Agreed. We were trash and we knew it by the end of November. Maybe that point in the year is a bit early to give up...but in January we were just as bad. Why he didn't start figuring out what he had as far as roster players for next year is beyond me.

He's a bad gm but if your a knights fan would you not be excited for that player at the deadline he was going all on the playoffs for a team that wasn't even supposed to be there for another 5 years

2 Larssons to a Gus, 3 Nolans to a larsson. Carry the Moulson minus Lehner = well, I'm not totally sure, but I think it's a mid-7th so basically a first

Prior to the trade, I would have believed he was worth a low 1st. Not the 2nd and 3rd.

Yup.
However, my suggestions isn't doing the same thing...
1) Dahlin was't here last year
2) Erod a) didn't start the season here as he was injured, and b) he played a small handful of games with Jack, so this is different
3) Mitts was here for 5 games out of 82...doesnt sound like the same to me either
4) Sam and ROR played GREAT together for the last 1/4 to 1/3 of the season together ... that combo is very, very solid and helps them...it want a reason for their failure as a team...so, yup I want that the same only for 50 more games a year.
5) to a lesser extent, keeping Wilson out of the top 6 is different...he played a fair amount with ROR and Jack. While I like what Wilson brings..I like it more in a bottom 6 role not too 6
6) Okposso was still recovering from a dreadful injury for 1/2 the season...he played well before getting concussed again...then picked his game up again once he recovered from that latest concussion. Stating that he is revitalized meaning at the top of his conditioning and capabjties is certainly different
7) not having chumps in goal should help as well. It is nearly certain both Lehner and Johnson are both gone and replaced. Again, different.
Those are the major points but other aspects could creep in, like another 1 2 or 3 players up their contributions (McCabe not injured, Bogo not injured, Bailey/Baptiste/another prospect steps forward to claim a spot and helps)...again different.

Just like athletes (as he was one), by the ends of their careers, they are judged on their entire body of work. What he did was put together the core of the winning Caps teams that essentially underachieved for him. He had an epic fail in trading Forsberg. But he also had an insane amount of success with a bunch of misfits. Overall, he's a very good GM, and Vegas boosted his stock immensely.
