Been quitteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee a long time since I've been on here. I've been frequent on capfriendly but have been a bit busy.
What's everyone's take on trading O'Reilly?
I personally don't want to do it and wouldn't for anything but either a top line LW under 30 + a highly touted defensive prospect who is close to NHL ready and a pick or reversed. A top pairing defenceman + a top end LW prospect who is close to NHL ready and a pick.
Thoughts? |

Eh, Baptiste wasn’t very good in Rochester this year.
I’m actually surprised he still has this many fans. He’s 22 already and hasn’t done anything - sbroads24
Nylander, 8 OA puts up 8-19-27 in 51 games at age 19, his second year in the A.
Baptiste, 69th OA (3rd round, which is like a 1st on this blog) puts up 13-15-28 in 62 games during 2015-16 season, his first in the A. He pots 7-11-18 in 36 games this past season, while trying to make it in the NHL and getting sh!t on.
Baptiste at 0.5 PPG in 2017-18 had a “down year” for a 3rd rounder.
But Nylander, produces at o.53 PPG rate and was picked a mere 61 slots earlier in his draft year needs every excuse in the world not to be consider a bust.

Why compare the two? Not many are defending Nylander's year. If you really insist on it, Baptise was still in the OHL at the same point.

Also every other page a discussion starts about trading ROR which quickly becomes an argument with much internet face slapping and hair pulling. Just give it a few minutes and someone will throw in with you!

Watch his NHL goals. Every single one is of the highlight variety.
Play him with Eichel = 20 goals |

Maybe. I don’t think that’s out of the question, I just don’t see what he’s done to be put there

Couldn't we say that for almost anyone on the roster?
No one ever says he could score 20 next to RoR....Jack's just that good. |

Finally someone else that sees the light. I pump the Sabres tires a lot, perhaps too much. I think this team will be playoff bound by 2019-2020 at the latest if not this year. That might even be too optimistic. But I have always been disappointed in nylander and have never seen why everyone was defending his play. I really hope I’m wrong. |

Sounds good to me!
U might be asking a little much though
For me:
I want ONE piece that i know will be part of the “core”
So #3 overall
Or a young winger we like
Etc
After that...
let teams bid other up to get the best return possible

Seems like some ppl expect every prospect to come up & score 20 goals right away
They’d have shipped out Tom Wilson if he played here like he was Cal O’Reilly |
