Casey is a game breaker? Already? - Larsson_fan
He very well could be. At the end of last year he had a point in 5 of the 6 games he played in and that was after sitting on the couch for a month and playing in a game less then a week with the team. He also recorded the points playing in Tampa, Nashville, Toronto. Not like he put up 3 points in one game against the Sens. The kid has real talent. |

Adding two game breakers in Casey and Dahlin is not doing nothing. We wouldn’t have the pieces to acquire those two players if we didn’t draft them. Mitts and Dahlin might even have a bigger impact on the game then Eichel himself. It pushes down O’Reilly to 3rd line C or at the very least lowers his minutes which also provides more depth. A full season of Erod, Guhle, Nelson, McCabe, Pilut. Bailey and Baptiste have to go through waivers now so it’s a safe bet they are in the bottom 6 at the very least compared to guys like Griffith, pouliot. You also have Asplund, Olofsson as dark horse to earn a spot and this is without free agency even starting yet. We will have almost 70% roster turnover next year. - Pegullaville
I'll play. Bold is returning this year, as of right now. Italicized is new adds.

Yeah, some want major, major overhauls in the form of trades.
I was called out for suggesting I think they should Keep ROR for one more season to allow Mitts to grow into his game without undo pressure, and for stating that ERod should then be on Jack’s line...
Said it was the definition of insanity...
But like you, I listed 7 major changes the roster would have without massive trades. I don’t think this is the season we see a major retooling through trades nor FA...a tweak or two sure. But the infusion of youth needs to be evaluated more rather than guessing what that infact will yield.
Next season is the target timeframe to make a couple of major moves in my book [/img] |

I just read the previous blog regarding picks 1 to 5.
Instead of RJ bellowing out, "May Day! May Day!", I'd much prefer him to announce the pick and right after saying, "Rasmus Dahlin" follow it up with "This guy is good. Scary good." |

I could see us getting pick 11 or 12 from NYI if Tavares is shown the door. That’s the highest I’d expect though. Outside chance of Vancouver at 7 but i doubt they pass on one of the d-men or Wahlstrom. If Kotkaniemi is there at 7 they are better off taking him then moving that pick for ROR anyways. - Pegullaville
I agree, good point about Wahlstrom as well!
The issue is FA doesn’t really Start” until after the draft is over...so Johnny T would need to have communicated his intent to move on without seeing what he is getting ... I sure the Agent can narrow it down considerably from a financial perspective, but it would be a fairly wide net as fairs as teams go.
C’mon Lightning...swing for the fence land Johnny T and count the Cups rolling in! |

Erod didn’t start the year with the team. Also haven’t accounted for Free agency. Also forgot bailey. So realistically 10/22 which is 45%. Also do you expect Larsson and Girgensons to both be here next year ? It’s already 45% without even accounting for free agency and trades. Falk, Gorges, Nolan won’t be here either and you need replacements for them. So now cutting one of Girgensons/Larsson and Falk Gorges, Nolan you’re looking at 14/22 looking at 64%. |

I think there was a recent article that stated 7OA was a non starter. But, who knows I guess. |

I think you ignored most of my post. Erod played enough games here to essentially be a part of last year's line up, for this exercise. |

It is, we tried that last year and the year before and we wound up in last place. Why would this year be any different?
Bailey and Baptiste are nothing players right now. Sean Malone could take a 3rd/4th line role, but again, he has not done anything to prove. Nylander has not lived up to expectations at all.
Pominville is a year older and a year slower. Ullmark is a complete unknown who had an awful awful playoffs for the Amerks
You want to put a 4th line center on the first line wing, which makes zero sense.
This team needs to reshape itself, Changing the 3rd and 4th line will maybe put us in 25-27 place instead of 31. |

This team had 25 freaking wins.
twenty freaking five.
Had the worst goal differential in the NHL, had some of the worst puck possession stats in history, was slow as S)* and is another year older.
Yet, "eh, no real changes are needed." |

25 wins.
31 place.
Close to if not last in every advance metric there is.
We were so close though. Draft Dahlin an we instantly get 40 wins. |

We're gonna have 2 new goalies, a new number 1 d (probably by Christmas), a top-6 center and they shed a ton of bums.
I'm guessing your idea of real change is moving all 3 of ROR, Risto and Reinhart? |

I feel I laid out in spades why it is different in the 2nd last blog at the end.
