Do you think he's gonna sign a 2 year deal?
I'm thinking 5x5, or 4 years, 6 mil - jcragcrumple
No idea, it’s just funny because last time he was a UFA everyone thought he was going for 7 years and he went 4.

Yup I think Stastny goes to a team like Chicago, LAK, BOS, or MTL on a 5x5 type deal. |

We're talking here like he's a 3C, I would bet there are more than a couple teams that are ready to commit to him as a 2C |

I'd actually go after Riley Nash before I'd go after Stastny if we traded ROR. Maybe even Bozak sadly.
I remember a few years ago when there was the talk of us getting Stastny for COL and I really dug in on him... it just was very Vanek like.. scores 3 pts then nothing for 5 games... doesn't do any one thing GREAT.. just a very mediocre player that is opportunistic. - JVince11
Yes please to Riley Nash your talking 3rd line for him right ? |

Which is MADNESS to me.... dude hasn't scored 20 goals or more than 50 pts in a season since 2013.
He's just very vanilla to me. He's a 4x5 contract that'll be regretted in 1.5 years IMO. |

I don't disagree, but like you said, a team like MTL that is desperate for centers will make him a longer offer. I don't see a 2-year deal being a competitive bid unless you start talking crazy money |

They are ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO need for a center.
MacKinnon
Kerfoot
Solderberg
Compher
And all things being honest... they need to look to trade Solderberg to promote Compher. I miss that dude being in our pipeline. |

Why don't they just have Soderberg play on the 4th line. |

They didn't learn their lesson with the last Blackhawks players they signed/traded for in Kruger..
Teuvo, TVR, Darling, Nordstrom. - JVince11
Teuvo, TVR and Nordstrom are useful players for them. Darling busted and Kruger was a cap dump. |

Oh I know that those guys are all good players... I was just saying Kruger. I don't konw if I call Darling a bust already.
Didn't Carolina sign that Bryan Bickell too to his first big contract after he left Chicago or was that Nashville? I just remember that being a bust contract. |

Could we land Saad for Jake ? I'm going with his trade value now - gerbe75pts
If I was a Chicago fan I'd be so f'n mad.... They LOVED Saad and had to see him go to Columbus for Anisomiv, Tropp, and Dano.
Their fans said he was the glue for them and if they got him back they'd win championships again.
Chicago then goes down a dumb hole and trades Panarin now to Columbus to get Saad back.
Now they are looking to deal Saad AGAIN for Faulk or in our scenario a McCabe.
Imagine giving up Panarin and his 233 pts in 243 career games for Faulk and Anisomiv. |

from your article:
‘‘Brandon actually did a lot of good things on the ice,’’ Bowman said in April. ‘‘His conversion rate was just really low this year. We look at that as kind of an anomaly. We think he’s going to get back to his normal production.’’
It could be that Bowman is just posturing and trying to up his trade value, but I think the optics alone would prevent them from trading Saad for anything less than a perceived game-breaking talent. |

Complete hypothetical that popped into my head.
I know a lot of people like the idea of us prying Grubeaur away from Washington because he is an RFA, Holtby is the starter, and Samsonov is a stud goalie of the future.
What if Holtby (making 6.1M for 2 years) asks for 8-9M next summer as an extension. They balk at it and now look to move him in favor of Samsonov or if they keep Grubeaur.
What do you do if any of them are on the trade market? Would you pay a Stanley Cup winning goalie that cost? or a 1st pick for Grubeaur or Samsonov? |

Saad is excellent and is going nowhere. Where is all this coming from with him?
I mean, I called it absurd to trade Panarin and people said his production was all Patty Kane, but Saad is still really good |
