Even if they were able to make a deal for a RHD for O'Reilly, like Hamilton (i know it's not gonna happen, but bear with me), I would STILL keep Risto for the second pair.
Dahlin-Hamilton
Scandella-Risto
Guhle-Bogo
Nelson
McCabe
We need more than 2 defensemen. 4 would be great. Cannot move Risto without an equal or better RHD coming back imo. Just can't. - jcragcrumple

Do your own research... I was simply stating what the teams starting lines were by the end of the year.
Man... Kerfoot and Butcher... wish we would have gotten one of them. Or not traded Compher.
A 3rd line of Asplund-Compher-Pommer would be pretty sweet. - JVince11
I did. And the players I mentioned are primarily being utilized for defensive starts. 1C, 2,3,4,8, 17C it doesnt (frank)ing matter. There's a guy on the roster taking defensive responsibility from the kids. |

Your point has no relevance when a 6 game rookie is eating up minutes and making rookie mistakes, hitting a college rookie wall at 40+ games and can't play the 200 ft game like Eichel can't yet. But go on... - GilPerreault11
Guess he's just not ready for the NHL then.

That's how every pro Risto fan feels. Maybe a couple keep saying how great he is, but most of us just realize he's a piece to build with. |

I think that Risto is a 2/3 on 85% of the NHL unless they are stacked like Nashville, STL, ANA, etc.
I'd much rather have a stacked top 4 then a high potential rookie pairing top line with medium 2nd pairing ceiling guys behind it. |

When you are not playing 27 ATOI per game as a 21 year old on the worst team in the NHL making all of your starts in your own zone..... I would tend to agree. |

if someone gives Jack (frank)ing Johnson 6 million dollars for ANYTHING, they should be taken out back, tied to a stake and slowly burned to death. - TheSabresTaco
Agreed

Again, who cares about the label. Find a guy that can cover for him in the defensive zone. Put him on the power play and ozone starts. He'll do great. |

Sign one of Grabovski, Stajan, Bozak, Letestu, Nash and you are good on a 2-3 year deal. |

I guess? He's kinda crusty. Rather have a guy that CAN put up to 50 points. - TheSabresTaco
True he would be nice for the 4th
I'm sure the sabres have a plan for the third line when Ryan O'Reilly is traded |

If you look at the Bruins boards.... a lot of their fantasy trade proposals include them dealing Krug to make room for Kovy or other things.
I'd certainly take Krug if available. What for.. Idk.
A nice 2 year 5.25M deal in the top 4. An extension would be hard to figure out though.[/img] |

I like your proposal but I don't think I could stomach any of our players on Boston I would probably lose my mind especially if it was Ryan O'Reilly |

Hanifin had 32 points and was a -20, it's not as if he's Hedman.
Every team gets an all-star (see: girgensons, zemgus). He's obviously better than ZG, i know. |
