I mean. I would say its different. And in fact Voynov did do some jail time and was punished for what he did. Hoffman is denying this is happening. - poisondhearts37
Don't care if he was punished for what he did, a domestic abuser should not be in the league, and that's a lot worse than what Hoffman's associated with |

According to Renaud Lavoir, the Sens have know about this since AT LEAST March and he seems to suggest other players just want to get the (frank) out of town. - BoutchBouchard
Get karlsson as far as you can from this team, it’s toxic and if that’s true, sens are an embarrassment with the way they have handled him all season. From the public contract pot shots now to this?
Him picking up that puck makes even more sense now |

Teams want to sign Slava Voynov, a domestic abuser. So plenty of teams will want him. - Trevor Shackles
exactly
if it comes out that Hoffman knew and did nothing...hes done in this league.
Who would want to play with that kind of guy. - DDM-Coga
It's post like this that shows some posters on this site know nothing and just troll.
What a player does off the ice gets overlooked, how does any intelligent person think Hoffman is responsible for his WIVES' issues?
It's simple, keep & resign your captain & franchise player (not to mention a well liked couple) and trade Hoffman. Good guy but it's a no brainer |

'get karlsson away from the toxicity'
'sens are an emabarrassment'...

Keep up moron, they are saying the sens knew about this since March at the very least and did nothing about it.
You are just too dumb to realize how bad these situations are and you when you read something you don’t like you call them a troll.
When this exact comment of if Hoffman knew he might be done as who would want to play with this guy has been mentioned by media members.
Sure I’m trolling, you’re pathetic bud with how hard you try to act like you are a know it all |

It sucks man, he seems to really want to be in Ottawa, but connecting the dots with the puck thing, almost being traded to Vegas, now the Hoffman stuff and all these player wives saying if you only knew what the karlsson put up with from Hoffman’s gf, can’t blame the guy and it would be silly to think Hoffman didn’t know if all these public comments from player wives are coming out of it was out in the open |

Worst case scenario, he takes a leave of absence and comes back. It happens in the NFL all the time.
Richie Incognito was villified, came back and became a probowler again for the Bills.

HOffman becomes culpable if he knew, and did nothing to stop it. He's still invovled with her, and is defending her, so there in lies the issue.
Karlsson has to WANT to re-sign too. |

I assume that’s the only reason he’s missing the draft...if he wasn’t in court they were still going to allow him to be around 18 year old kids after being accused of harrssing a 19 year old?
Come on sens, it’s not that hard to avoid shooting your self in the foot |

Not sure I'd want anything to do with Hoffman if she's coming with, if I was a GM, if it's true. That kind of crazy I do not need |

I am not condoning Voynov's actions at all as I do not agree with them at all. He did this years ago now, has paid his dues. Everyone deserves a second chance. His wife is still with him and their culture is different from ours while our beliefs do feel this is wrong for some reason it is a lot more acceptable in that culture.
He was known as a good team mate and is a smart defense man. Most teams will take a chance on him. He has much more value in this league at this point. But the truth is we are comparing two very ugly scenarios....
Teams with true cup aspirations will take a pass on a guy who has a reputation as a bad team mate and with his decision to allow this to go on, well no team needs distractions. |

Voynov’s wife, Marta Varlamova, told police in October 2014 that her husband punched her left jaw outside of a Halloween party. The dispute continued at the couple’s Redondo Beach home, according to the police report, where Voynov choked her with both hands three times, repeatedly pushed her to the ground, kicked her five to six times on the ground and eventually shoved her into the corner of a flat-screen television mounted on a wall.
“My blood, all over bedroom and bathroom,” Varlamova told police in a recorded interview. “And it’s not the first time.

This isn't some drug issue, or gambling issue, or anything like that. This piece of trash is a violent person who thinks it's ok to punch, choke, & kick women. More than once. If that was your sister, are you saying he needs a second chance? Hell no.
That's not a "I need counselling" problem, that's an "I need the same done to me" problem. He's a predator & a coward, & I personally hope he spends the rest of his days broke & miserable in Siberia. |

At the end of the day it’s simple - if Hoffman knew his fiancé was doing this to a teammates (captain on top of that) wife he is done. No team will touch him and no team will accept him in their dressing room. Full on betrayal of your team. Add to that he has come out and said “150% chance it was not them”, so if true he is a full blown liar as well. Putting a piece of crap girl ahead of his team? Do you think 25-30 goals a year covers all this up? If you do take of your rose coloured glasses. The Jets got together and got rid of Kane for just being an ass. This is 1,000,000 x worst. |

That's the thing. If it turns out that Hoffman knew and is lying now, holy cow.
I know there's always somebody out there who will give people a chance, but man. If Hoffman knew about this, and it can be proven, and he still made this statement, I don't see how you could put this guy on your team.
I know they are professionals and they don't all have to love each other. I get it.
But at some point, if something like this is true, you just look around your organization and say, "No. I just do not need this."

I always liked and respected Karlsson and was really sad at the news of them losing their child. If this is true which it seems like it due to other wives speaking up Hoffman has some issues. To support someone who attacks a couple after a miscarriage speaks volumes of his character. I wouldn’t want him on my team even for free.
Yes go ahead and make fun of the Sabres I know we have our issues but Ottawa would do well to distance themselves from the Hoffman’s if this is true, players have lives outside of hockey and no one deserves this. |

Is there any way he could admit to knowing about it that would salvage his reputation though? The initial act is so bad on its own.
He'd be screwed either way, and may figure his only hope is to lie to get out of it. |

Ya but like he said, no one is gonna want to be his teammate. - forbetterorWORSE
Im sure many would. Even if the accusations are true, unless I am mistaken, it is just the wife doing this correct? Hoffman is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He has to stick up for her regardless. It is easy to sit there and say leave her but the fact is, he is with her because he loves her and there have been people who have covered up a lot worse to protect their loved ones.
My question is what the hell did Karlsson's wife do that would make her hate her that much? People think Men are evil, Women are ruthless and hide behind a cute innocent face. If this was between Karlsson and Hoffman, they would just fight and move on. Women go and take things way too far. |

I agree it's a tough situation for Hoffman, but that's no excuse. If you discover this, you insist/demand she get therapy. You make sure it stops immediately or you leave. Or you just leave, some people wouldn't be willing to deal with this.
You do not let it get to the point that the affected parties need to file a restraining order. And you don't say it wasn't you when it does get to that point.
On the Karlsson's wife part, often times victims don't need to do anything.
Not sure I see why you would say she would need to do something to be the target of a sick person's abuse. |
