me thinks the future Mrs. Hoffman may have just cost her future husband a whole lot of money...whether all of this is true or not.

Fish rots from the head.

Time for Bettman to step in and force Melnyk to sell team to local owners.

Alfredsson is President of Hockey Operation (in waiting).

Remember the light always breaks through at the deepest darkest point of the pit.

For those of us that believe the problem begins and ends with ownership, this is a clear sign that resolution is coming.

Also important to keep in mind that the details of this srory have been publicly known by people around the team for many months. The fact the information is now drawing media comment indicates that resolution options are about to become public.

I assume Hoffman is gone for a bag of used pucks.

Who said Im blaming anyone? I am just saying something was done to harbor such hate for someone else. I have seen women say their boyfriend raped them just because they did want to be with them anymore. Its same situation. In this scenerio it isnt the boyfriends fault but an action he made still lead to this situation. Even if he wanted to end it, common law would destroy him.

For all we know Hoffman could have banged Karlsson's wife and she found out. It is pretty common in NHL for players to bang other players wives. Could account for why he is denying as well.

There is always two sides to the story, even if someone is in the wrong.

I have to wonder how much of a hit Hoffman's trade value just took. If there were already rumors to the effect that he's a lousy teammate and now you add the apparent fact that is longtime girlfriend/fiancee is nasty psycho as well, you'd have to think most teams would be pretty leery about giving up too much for him. Hoffman is a good player, but it's not like he's a consistent 40 goal scoring superstar.

The Sens really are a mess right now. I think the best thing for that franchise would be for Melnyk just to sell the team and for the new ownership to clean house and start over.

So wait, what’s the damning evidence that mike is lying ?

I’m not saying he is or isn’t, just that it seems like everyone’s already made up their minds. I briefly read an article that just kind of talked of the accusation. And then read Hoffman’s response

It’s all so bizarre

If you believe reports the entire organization new about, a did former players of teh Senators.

But yet, mike Hoffman was the only one that didnt know...

Nutso. Ive tried to stay away from personal thoughts of the players as ive never met any of them ,and my thoughts are speculation based from what i see on tv and hear on radio.

Hoffman has always come off to me as a smug, selfish vain pretty boy. I never liked his demeanor

I would pay a lot of money to see Karlsson punch his lights out

So lets say (assuming it's true) Dorion became aware of this two weeks before the deadline.

Could he trade Hoffman without disclosing it?

I know the guy's an agent and he's doing what he's paid to do, but I have followed NHL hockey since 1979 and I have never, and I mean NEVER, heard anything like what might -- repeat might -- have happened in Ottawa

Again: It only takes one GM to take Hoffman. But holy hell. Would you risk your job on something like this?

- AllInForFlyers

Really? 1979 even. The ONLY reason you're hearing about this one is because of these wonderful screens in all our hands - we're suddenly on the spot reporters, every one of us. Players have been dycking down other players girls for years. Call some people in Calgary or Toronto about a certain "Doug" guy who's in the Hall. People hide behind these screens and suddenly have a voice they never had before. If Hoff's girl had done this face to face, or over a telephone - instead of the cowardly way from behind anon social media accounts.....this would have been settled like it was in the old days. A couple punches in the mouth and a quick trade if that didn't settle it. Now we all know. Young and the Restless - live episodes now filming in Ottawa.

by the way, a great drinking game is to read this story and drink every time some kind of "tire fire, dumpster fire, clown circus, baby diaper fire" or some variation gets thrown around by the cunning wordsmyths that feel the need to comment on this story.

unless the matter was before the court, I don't see why he would have to disclose it

This is so true, and clearly illustrates how times have changed. Aside from technology and the current social landscape, for decades Hockey players were either ignored ( USA) or well protected.
Wayne Gretzky has or had a reputation of being a squeeky clean family man, but people in the know have talked about how 99 had a different piece of ass in every city in Canada. Media probably knew this but nobody would touch that with any length of pole.

Ottawa makes the Oilers organization look like a model franchise right now.

Even if they owner sold to a good guy who isnt a cheapskate, where does Dorian even begin?

The are asked to support this train wreck no matter what.

If Ottawa gets a new owner, especially one who is willing to spend. Do you really think Dorian is still with the team? My guess is he gets fired asap or turned back into a scout where he is good at his job.

As for the whole situation right now. I'm kind of viewing it the same way as I am viewing Randy Lee. Hoffman is innocent until proven guilty and shouldn't have any repercussions until it's proven.

If it is true that Hoffman's gf did this then he easily might not have known anything.

Imagine how strong of a bond Karlsson and Hoffman could have if Hoffman decides to dump his long term gf to solve the situation.

I'm a positive thinker and I've always thought you can solve any situation. Clearly the team is rallying around Karlsson and his wife, I just don't think Hoffman should be vilified until something is proven and I think whatever has happened, management need to get them both into a room to sit down and solve things like adults.

because the story is fairly open including agents and the players union, we can probably assume the deal to move Hoffman is near completion and the story release is an attempt to explain a very nominal trade return

C'mon man, former players are saying it happened. The organization knew about it.

Yet Hoffman didn't know it was going on? Seems extremely unlikely.

Hey, I applaud you for thinking positively, but sometimes, you gotta know when a ship has sailed.

I know some people might not have kids, or not think much of what it takes to have one, go through that process.

IF, and I repeat IF, the Karlssons think Hoffman's WAG trolled them over their deceased newborn -- and they clearly do -- you aren't sitting down in a room and settling a damn thing.

You're just not. If Hoffman's WAG did it, she is a flat-out horrible effing person, if not borderline psychopathic, and if Hoffman knew about it and did nothiing -- again, two ifs -- he's almost as horrible
