Have we checked with Brady to confirm that if drafted, he won't demand a trade out of town?

They should be considering it imo if they don't think Karlsson will re-sign. If they trade Hoffman and Karlsson, the team would likely struggle even more to score goals. There is also Duchene...what if he won't re-sign and they have to trade him too?

Sens should have some sort of idea on if both Karlsson and Duchene are willing to re-sign with the team or not. If they won't then they have to consider giving up the pick this year because the way things are going for this franchise, they could very well end up in the bottom of the league and end up winning the lottery and giving the Avs Jack Hughes. I mean can you imagine that?

This is a real question. If karlsson is traded, they will have the worrt defense in the league, without a doubt.

Although it would give Chabot a real baptism by fire.

The thing is, that even then its only a 50% change you get the first overall if you wind up last. And The sens are looking like a mess right now, but there's a few teams next year who I think are going to be bad as well.

Rangers seem to be in full rebuild, as are the Habs. Buffalo will be better next year, MIddlestad and Dahlen will make a big difference, but there's a lot of holes on taht team.

Brady is such a weird player, just from how he's perceived.

You've got some analysts saying he's the 3rd overall, and others saying he's a bust. I think Zadina is better pure skill wise, and would prefer to have him if they have a say in the matter.

Yes! I've been saying this even before the Karlsson/Hoffman situation....

I think what the Sens should do is tell Karlsson that Hoffman will not be back with the Senators under any circumstances. Tell Karlsson that if he wants to be traded that they will do so at the draft and wish him well.

If that is the case, then you give that pick to Colorado and have the 18/19 pick to look forward to. Also, that means the total teardown of the team... anyone under 23 should be kept...

That means trading Stone, Duchene, Ceci, Pageau, Hoffman (although that may be just waivers and be done with it)... Keep Burrows, Ryan, Smith unless you can get a pick for any of them. We need to hit the cap floor after all and let's not give them a free pass.

The rebuild will take 3-4 years of getting high quality draft picks. Build around Chabot, Brown, White, Formeton, Dzingel and a few others...

Has to do with rumour of Karlsson how requesting a trade...if Sens trade EK and get another 1st round pick/high end prospects. They might be willing to just give up the 4th overall bc without EK, that team will probably be a lottery team again next year.

yup, exactly...plus the rumour talks of Dorion asking Sakic what can he do to give back the 2019 pick....simple, give up the 2018 pick.

It sucks for the fans bc this is a messy messy situation and the team is in for some dark days soon after the fall out of this offseason. Even as for PR, could be smart just to give up the 2018 pick so you dont have that 2019 storyline hanging over the team all season, especially when they are basically rebuilding

It really is shocking how in 9 months this whole organization has melted down.
Never would have thought after the Duchene trade that things would have gotten as bad as it has. Team needs to move on from all these story lines from last season as soon as possible for a fresh start

Before this mess came forward, i thought there was no chance Dorion would trade the pick.

He'd roll the dice and try and hope the team would be better next year, than 4th overall.

Now though, it's something re really needs to consider.
