It is trash! We should've never let this happen. Embarrassing. Sad! - YuenglingJagr
I'm pretty sure that neither Hextall nor Pryor listen to JMatch, so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

He needs some help. He's still stuck driving an 05/06 Civic. |

(though personally I'd rather have Berggren than any of the centers left on the board), between Hayton, Lundestrom, and Kupari, you'd probably have at least 2 to pick from at 19. - BiggE
I want a defenseman, but would definitely be good with those 4. I would rank them Berggren, Lundestrom....Kupari/Hayton |

I hear you, I'm not a big fan of most of the higher ranked centers in this draft. I'd be looking for BPA at #19 which would likely be a winger or Dman. Berggren, Denisenko, Sandin, or Miller would all be guys I like better than any of the 3 centers I mentioned.

I call Calgary and ask how bad they want in on the 1st round. 19 for Sam Bennett. Get a 3rd line center and someone who can kill penalties. Also think he needs a change of scenery. So at 14 you get help in the future but 9 get you help now and to build with. Bennett can move to wing once someone in house like Frost or Vorobyev are ready.

I still like your plan from the other day. Use Simmonds to get another 1st rounder. Then you really can move around. I really feel like AZ could be a fit for Simmonds. With resigning Ekman-Larson, they are showing they need to start winning and need more winning type vets to help bring this along. |

I'd be open to moving #19 for a young guy like Bennett. I'm really not in love with this draft once you get past the top 10-12 guys. Farabee is one of those guys and I'd be thrilled with him at 14. But unless one of the guys I love drops to 19 (which is highly unlikely), I'd be very open to trading the 19th pick for a young NHL player who can step right in and help the team.

If the Flyers can take Farabee and get S. Bennett for 19 then ok. *high five Hexy*
I don't see Calgary doing it. |

If Arizona was willing to send us the 5th pick for Simmonds straight up?? I'd drive him to the airport and buy his first class ticket.

Probably not, it seems they are looking to move a Dman to get into the first round, not a forward.

Kind of, but I'd prefer someone a little younger than Schenn and on a cheaper deal. |

Need to get more than a first round pick for Simmonds. Why would a team like Arizona who is an up and coming team similar to the Flyers be willing to give up a first round pick AND a quality young NHL player that it would take to get Simmonds?

What about this. I know it might look bad but hear me out.
To Edmonton: Simmonds and Vecchione
To Philadelphia: 10 and Lucic
Yes Lucic has 5 more years at 6 million but basically it's like resigning Simmonds in a way. You also still have a big body, physical presence and probably a super motivated player after a down year. Edmonton wants to move him to free up space. They also get a solid player in Simmonds to replace Lucic and a bottom 6 guy in Vecchione. The price is the 10th pick for the Flyers to take on the Lucic deal.
Now Flyers pick at 10, 14 and 19. That's plenty of ammo to move up, stay and take best player available or even get a youngish NHL vet. You could even trade back and get even more assets like early 2nd round picks.
Does it work or is the Lucic deal just too bad to want to play with. For me I don't see it as that bad as i think that is where Simmonds will end up resigning around.
