I think you are under valuing Zadorovs role and ability on the Avs. Guy was on the tp pair and their Total Icetime leader for D without playing PP. He ate a lot of minutes, shown some nice offensive output without any PP time.

Defensively he was decent, always physical. Still prone to his brain will shut off and do bone head plays, but saw that with Erik Johnson too when he first came to Colorado. When he got to 27-28, he out grew all that.

If we are able to sign Hickey that’s a huge win for Buffalo. Plays defense first, good skater. Won’t blow you away offensively but can crave out an NHL career. Better then anything Fasching would have.
