UG is not wrong at all in his assessment.
My problem is simply that he should just give it a rest already. Just enjoy the fact that the Marlies won, and there are a couple guys who are likely to be NHL'ers, for one freaking second. - Aetherial
Well, the EITHER DERMOTT OR LILJERGREN, OR JOHNSSON OR GRUNDSTROM stuff was pretty dumb.
All 4 of those guys + Kapanen look like they should be NHLers. 4 of them could be full-time this season, with Liljergren getting the Dermott treatment as well. |

I learned Mason Marchment is going to play 200 games in the NHL. Trevor Moore and Calle Rosen too. - Unholy_Goalie
Every time I have seen Marchment play he has been impressive. He doesn't get discussed much so I have to wonder if there is some pretty good reason why he is not considered one of their better prospects. He looks better than the Goat though. |

I dunno, id consider it wrong to expect only two of Dermott/Lilegren/Grundstrom/Jonsson to make the NHL and play 200 games. It say its more likely all of them play 200 games+
Dermott is already on the team essentially, and Jonsson is a lock. The other two have a very good chance to be on the team in the future. Not saying theyll be superstars, but come on. |

That was one of his more retarded not well thought out rants. Apparently thinking 7 players play 200 games, which isn’t a lot, means I think all prospects will become HOFers. Like, seriously dude, are you really this lonely you have to argue about nothing...all the time? - Steven_Seagull
Honestly, it really depends on the development of these kids. The leafs finally have a good staff in place and are making the right decisions regarding their development. Prior staffs were horrible. We now have a basis on how to develop them that Dubas has put into place. Built a successful culture with the Marlies, and that will just continue to happen.
Most of these kids have the potential to play in the NHL, but previous regimes never gave them the right tools to do it. It looks like things have changed. But of course, not all will make it. |

Agreed, id like to see how he does against NHLers in preseason. I'd have to imagine his speed is the issue, but he looks decent to me, and someone the Leafs could use if he could keep up. |

If only this management and coaching team had been around a decade ago, Robbie Earl would’ve rewrote the record books. |

His point was not the specific names... it was just plugging the most likely Marlie names into a scenario we could typically expect.
We all know there are 4 or 5 Marlies that are candidates to have a decent NHL career but probably only a couple will |

I think it has to do with where he's come from. ECHL graduate, so people are being reserved with expectations.
Plus, he was hurt a bunch this season so his stats don't sand out as much as other guys. |

He is really only talking about averages. The Marlies may have an exceptional class this year (it would sure help, given our cap in the next few years). Odds are only a couple are significant players.

He's got the size, moves decently, has some scoring touch and seems to get involved in the play. It would be good to see someone unexpected make an impact

The original post asked how many would play 200 games for the Leafs. Not necessarily in significant roles. Of course, he took my list out of context thinking I thought they would all become great players...because UG gonna UG... |

Everyone agreed with him about not all prospects make it, and actually gave him multiple opportunities to clarify his statement. He wouldn't back down as usual and thus stood by his only one of Dermott or Lillybust make it etc. |

What's the point?
More evidence to me, that Basketball is such a stupid sport. - walshyleafsfan
I figured out the problems I have with basketball.
1) One player can make a whole team
2) The last minute of games take 20 minutes to play
3) The refereeing is even more abysmal than hockey (except the Leafs Bruins series, which was the worst display until last night)
but most of all, The problem is that each team scores about 50 times a game. How can you get any sort of tension or excitement when there are 100 scoring plays.

He has a need to be "right" and has a tendency to be pedantic.
Even with specific names considered, he may be right.
The problem is that being "right" means very little in a discussion like this, particularly since we wont have our answer for a while
and nobody cares to listen to it the night they won the championship. |

That's my biggest issue. If you have a top 5 player in the world (easier said than done), you'll be one of the best 5 teams. The tanking is also outrageous. |

I guess you could argue that a Goalie or Quarterback could make a whole team. It just seems somehow more annoying in the NBA. Maybe it is because you don't have to find a generational talent at a specific position, like Price or Brady. |
