#Habs GM Marc Bergevin still has policy of not talking about contract negotiations but says at this point he expects captain Max Pacioretty to be back with the team next season. #HabsIO

He also said he wasn't trading PK

ROR as in Ryan O'Reily? 7.5M ROR?
I am sure it was mentioned already and probably doesn't need to be said but that's 50% retained salary?
Otherwise Montreal would be better off signing current day Scott Gomez and ask fans to try out. - Glak18
Good luck with Domi at 1C |

I think the constant ROR bashing in this thread for the past 6 months has lowered our expectations of what he could - and should - be worth in a trade. If JT signs, he's the best center available in the NHL.
That should be worth a very good LW, plus an excellent prospect, and probably a good 3rd piece (draft pick?) - jcragcrumple
VANs #7 pick is on the TSN trade board
I’d want that, (choose Wahlstrom, LW sniper)
plus a couple B+ prospects like
Gaudette (bottom6 2-way Center)
and Goldobin (middle6 LW)
Vancouver fans would say too much
Sabres fans would say to little
So it’s probably in the ballpark of what might happen |

#7 and Goldobin for RoR seems fair. |

Maybe Buffalo should trade for Corey Perry, only costs your 1st round pick plus add some other stuff. No?
Good luck with Okposo |

Yikes. I mean he did say “at this point” if he were to say to the media “he’s a goner” then any team he was having negotiations with would just gain more leverage in trade discussions. |

#7 and Gaudette yikes. Banning would hang up the phone forsure. Just select Wahlstrom or one of the d-men and call it a day. |

Anaheim would pay their 1st round pick to move Perry. |

Very easy choice for me
Take the top prospect each of the next 2 years
C- Jack Hughes
LW- Alex Lafreniere
We’d be pretty stacked
As long as we could find a good goalie,
I think we’d win more than 1 Cup

I’d add a pick or someone like Cj Smith to get Gaudette too if possible
He and Asplund could be our bottom2 centers moving forward
Both reportedly have nice 2way games |

McCabe would be able to be moved with Guhle/Pilut/Mete able to play third pairing minutes. Scandella is a UFA within the next year or two and would either be an own rental for us and walk as a UFA or be traded as we would have 4 guys ready to play that role by 2020-2021.
LHD: Dahlin, Scandella, McCabe, Guhle/Mete/Poheling/Hickey(if signed), Pilut, Beaulieu
RHD: Risto, Nelson, Bogo, Juulsen, Borgen
Our defence would be full of young puck movers all making ELC money apart from Risto and Bogosian by 2020-2021. Could spend 50M+ on whatever we wanted upfront. - Pegullaville

Lol... fair point
But we’d still have Dahlin as a stud defenseman,
Along with some other solid defensemen
EDMs problem was all their talent was at forward |

Gaudette is a bottom6 prospect
If he really wants O’Reilly i don’t think he’d be a deal breaker at all
But what do i know?
I overvalued Kane when we were trading him
So i could be way off here too |

My point was basically getting top picks doesn't guarantee cups, but it should be a hell of a lot easier to do so. Unless you go out of your way to mess it up.
Buffalo is way ahead of Edmonton, even when McDavid was drafted. |

If we trade O’Reilly, then yes
Because we don’t want Jack or Casey ever having to play a defensive role
If your thoughts are that finding a 3C is easy...
just ask Pitt how that’s been going?
They seem to try to find a guy almost every year

I think we are now with Dahlin
I’d have been happy with picking 2 or 3,
but we’d still have to figure out our defense
Now i think we are in pretty good shape & should finally be able to start moving up the standings |

I just personally wouldn’t deal the 7th overall pick in general for a 7.5M Centreman whose production could fall off a cliff within the next two years and be like Chris Drury NYR edition. |

fair enough...but without ror, erod will be #3...can pick up a #4 almost anywhere any time or use lars/gus/Malone in that role |
