What would really be something is if we could move ROR for Hanifin. Then move McCabe and pick 32 for Pacioretty.

Bailey-Erod-Baptiste
Girgensons-Larsson-Pominville

Scandella-Dahlin
Guhle/Pilut-Bogosian/Nelson - Pegullaville
I'd want more for ROR. And not all that excited about 1 year of patches |

I could see it going that way, and I'd kill to trade with Van to get Tkachuk at 7. - Lunaion
I don't remember what draft site it was, but they were so high on Tkachuk that they had him 3rd overall with the comment that he was good enough to go 2nd. |

I just put them in there for the sake of having them in there since they are both still under contract. But guys like Smith, Wilson, O’Regan could fill those spots |

from what I hear, RoR is gone
probably after the sabres pay the bonus on July 1st - homiedclown
So that would mean that draft picks are not part of the equation, I would think. More of a player swap. I think the draft would make more sense from the Sabres perspective because getting draft picks for 2019 slows the time line down even further. |

Those three looked good last year in the few games they had them playing together. That’s why I put them together in the mock lineup. |

yeah if they are waiting until the bonus is paid, it would be prospects/players coming back |

I just don't see a top 10 pick coming, in which case I'm fine with paying the bonus and bringing in players/prospects. I hope it's not a 2019 1st as the key piece.

Yeah, that deal wouldn't make sense to me, because you'd be moving ROR, and throwing Mitts to the wolves at 2C with whatever combination of Nylander, Wilson, Okposo and Pominville that they could cobble together. Forget the fact that it would be another abysmal year, it would be bad for his development |

I think they can deal with their center and wing needs, though maybe not as well as I'd like. They won't just play a ton of kids next year. The bigger problem to me with a 2019 pick is that it's value range is too big, and if it had any kind of lottery protection, that would crush it.

So I just did a quick review of the 2019 draft class ... loaded with positions the Sabres don't necessarily need, based the roster as it stands now .... Centers and LHD.
I would consider packaging a pick there if JBotts can sneak into top 10 this year.
Targets like Tkachuck, Wahlstrom, Farabe, Boqvist, Bouchard would be good.
Also, at 32...wouldnt mind seeing a high risk/high reward pick on Merkley if he slipped that far (doubtful) |

I don’t think Merkley makes it past Toronto. But if he does slip that far I’d take a flier on him at 32. |

He's a head case for sure right now, but maybe he matures over the next 2-3 years.
I could see the Laughs jumping on him as well |

Given the trade of Domi to the Habs, do the Habs try to trade down a couple of spots and target Kotkaniemi (C) to round out their center rebuild?
I know it is a bit early for Kots, but I could see the Habs going this route as a less expensive path to getting their 1C, and see if Domi can handle 2C duties.
Only issue with that plan is the Yotes who might be targeting Kots as well. - IonSabres
Supposedly,
They’ll take him at #3 even if they can’t trade down

The Centre position is kind of reminiscent of the QB position in football in which teams may reach for one earlier than expected since its an important position on the ice and all these teams are desperate for one. Would not be surprised to see some of the d-men last into the teens becuase teams are reaching for Centres at the top of the draft. Kotkaniemi is a top 5 lock at this point (gives myself pat on the back for predicting this back in March). But guys like Hayton, Veleno, Kupari can all come off the board earlier then we think becuase of the desperation shown by GM’s to acquire one. - Pegullaville
Is there another draft nerd here besides me & Gerbe?
Nice
Ps
He’s only top5 if MTL picks him |
