We don't have to trade him at all, and we can sign Skinner in 12 months for free, and yet most here are ready to sell ROR for a day old sandwich and a used jock strap - jcragcrumple
Agree for the most part
I’m out though
Probably check in later or tomorrow to hear more ROR arguments
Good luck!

Yea but that used jock strap needs a change of scenery and could really explode on Jack's wing.

I think Skinner is the most-skilled of the 3.
I don't disagree he's sub-par on D, but what we absolutely need the most on offense is what Skinner does best, score 5 on 5.
I just don't see how we get better there (I know Dahlin helps) without adding guys who excel in that area, and subtracting ones who don't. - sbroads24
I won't even try to pretend that I force myself to watch Buffalo AND Carolina games that often...
There are some things that are even against my inner Geneva Convention.
I'll take your word for it though. The stats being so close was a big surprise to me. I still don't think we should trade ROR for him when we could get him for free next summer though. |

Don’t u think an improved defense is gonna help get the puck up the ice?
We’ve been horrible at that
Dahlin, Guhle, Nelson, Pilut, etc...
They aren’t JUST gonna help the defense
It’s also gonna help the offense as well |

how often does a player hit UFA status?
This argument is stupid. - ImThatGuy
John Tavares and Steven Stamkos say hello.
Two of the elite tier of the NHL.
Guys like Skinner who are borderline top or 2nd line guys hit UFA all the time and get paid huge contracts that are regretted 3 years later. |

Wonder if Uncle Terry backs up the truck for Trotz and talked him into coming to Buffalo. I wish.
I’d make that switch and I don’t hate Housley. Instant credibility. GMBOT and Trotz would be nice. |

Umm.... It was just a clause in his contract to get resigned to a bigger deal.
Trotz already resigned with Washington. |

Correct.
Statement from Caps:
Barry Trotz informed the organization today of his decision to resign as head coach of the Washington Capitals. We are obviously disappointed by Barry's decision, but would like to thank Barry for all his efforts the past four years and for helping bring the Stanley Cup to Washington. Barry is a man of high character and integrity and we are grateful for his leadership and for all that he has done for our franchise. |

Im not sure if protecting mitts (if he even needs it) is worth the chance RoR takes a huge step back this coming year. I think RoR is at his highest value right now - Shadman306
Sure, if that is your opinion it is fine.
Who knows what happens with ROR, but playing on the worst O and D team in the league---I would say it is more likely his stats actually increase...especially now with the light shed on his statement at season end ... he almost has to come in with guns-a-blazing!!
Maybe:
-He is paired with a decent LW and Reinhart who he plays terrific with.
-He then turns in a 70 point season and has his usual F-O win %
Do you then think his value will decline? |

OR trade ROR to improve your group AND sign a guy to a 2-3 year deal that can protect Middlestadt. - ImThatGuy
Sure, that could work as well.

Steven Stamkos who didn't leave his club?
John Tavares who will sign with the NYI? - ImThatGuy
Yes, Technically Stamkos did in fact hit FA...he just chose to stay with the team that gave him a great opportunity to compete for the cup for several years...he took less money sure, but signed in a location where the tax benefit made the cash value more compariable.
will be interesting to see what Johnny T does.

And Skinner isnt on their level anyway. |

Why? Just because this guy has finally coached a squad that's won the cup, we're all expected to think he's the most elite coach in the NHL. Disco Dan has a cup, too. |

Stay away from the "second tier guys" in FA
The Okposos, Lucics, etc
They're the ones you end up overpaying for and they never work out.
