I watched a bit of super girl in the first season

He might just be over the organization and want a fresh start. He won ONE cup, he's not going to get Babcock money. He must just want a change of scenery.

From what I read, he wanted 5yr/$5m, which I don't see a problem with. He has been underpaid up until now. It's not like the coach's salary counts against the cap. I wonder if he would be looking to join the Seattle group and land the HC job there.

Bob McKenzie's list also has Brady Tkachuk as #3. I'm not saying that Svecknikov isn't the consensus #2 just that Bob's list is a little off.

Bob's pretty upfront about his rankings and how he puts them together. I think his list has the strongest foundation of any.

Personally, I would try to sign Riley Nash to be that 2c/3c. He could help shelter Casey and can handle the 2nd line center role for a little while if need be just till Casey has a better handle on it. Then he could be a real strong 3C who can handle most of the defensive roles. That opens up E Rod to play LW instead of Center.

Where's Arturs Irbe or Sean Burke. They were both as good as Moog. Hell, even VanBiesbrouk Deserves to be on there if Moog is.

I'm ok with the top 3, you can put those guys in any order really. I'd still put Hasek at 1, but whatever, it's not like they put Belfour up there.

I think it's more on a personal level.. he was pretty open about not having a "good year" with the club and supposedly "found some things out" this year that he didn't know.

He's been so close to getting fired for so long and it's been pretty much all but guaranteed that AC Todd Reirden would succeed him after his contract was up.

Maybe he didn't want to stand in the way of that, or maybe it's got something to do with the people above him... who knows.

I don't think money was an issue here... dude is one of the top ten winningest coaches ever that just coached the best team in the league.

If it was money -- you work that out. Dude just coached the team to the SC. You don't lose that coach over money. I don't care if it was the contract or not; you find a way to pay that guy.

can someone explain to me how the caps and barry trotz couldn't come together on a contract?

since ovie was drafted in 2004 and expectations rose, the caps went through four coaches, missing the playoffs three times and not making it past the second round at all...

trotz also had trouble making it past the second round until this year and he got ovie to play the best, most selfless hockey of his entire career on their way to the cup...
