If Buffalo wants to start moving forward and ROR truly wants out, it's a pretty good return. Voracek is one of the better playmaking wingers in the game, and putting him with Eichel would be a great combo. - jmatchett383
ROR > Jake imo.

ROR > Jake imo. - flyer_nutter
Well, depending on what you value, sure.
But again, if a player makes it known that he wants to be moved, that drags his value down quite a few notches. |

For the Flyers it would be a tough loss but you also sure up down the middle and also help your PK.

What kind of player Lindblom is going to be isn't anywhere near the point of being determined. - MJL
yes, you're right. i'm giving my opinion on his final outcome, not what it is. we'll all see in a few years. but "it not being finished" makes anyone's final summation of his ceiling as moot as mine.
again, my main point is that he's not skating above Skinner or JVR... for the rest of the decade more than likely |

Could also benefit Reinhart as he can move to center and maybe you play Jake on his wing.

Fair enough.
I do think that 3C spot is eventually filled internally, and I am fine with that. It's painful waiting, but trading now to fill vacancies is kind of just opening up holes in other places.
Club isn't one or two guys away in my eyes. Tough call. |

I'd like to see Lind establish himself physically a bit more next season. I think the scoring will come to a degree, but you need to help your club win the game if you aren't getting points.
Warm bodies that just dont "hurt you" are a pet peeve. He's got a real shot at growing his career with the club the next few years, curious how he does. |

Here is the thing.
Would you do O'Reilly for Voracek? Yes you get weaker on the wing but now your stronger in the center. Also when Forst is ready O'Reilly can playwing if needed or Frost moves there.
You also gain a little cap savings. - J35Bacher
Honestly no. I have bias though as I have zero interest in trading Voracek. |

Not necessarily. O'Reilly can play wing too. I think there is plenty of ice time for 3 solid centers. O'Reilly will also get a fair amount of PK time that Patrick won't. - J35Bacher
With his two way ability, size and all the other attributes, I don't see him playing on the wing if the Flyers acquired him. Getting another center would be the main reason to acquire him. If they want a winger, get a winger.

I agree with most of what you state here but I agree the cap hit is too high. Another downside is he would absolutely take icetime away from Patrick. Any coach would rely highly on a quality 2 way center man like O'Rielly. - MJL
That’s a great point especially when your coach is Hakstol Lol! I can’t say I know if ROR played any wing or if he could play wing so he wouldn’t take away ice time form Patrick. But if he could, maybe he’s a hybrid C/Winger depending on the given game situation. |

Buffalo would add a winger to play with Eichel. What wingers do they really have. I know they have Okposo but other then that? - J35Bacher
I might be one of the few who would make that deal. I don’t know if the Sabres would want to take on Jake’s salary. |

Hakstol or any coach worth his salt in the NHL.

You could be right. A lot is also depending on preference. Hextall has made it known he prefers to build through the middle with centers. And then maybe the move to wing.
My feeling is it seems easier to find wingers then solid centers. Hypothetically say it was a straight swap Voracek for O'reilly. FA class isn't stellar but maybe you look at Rick Nash on a 1 year deal. You also still have Simmonds for this year.

Wonder if he actually stepped away or if it was a classy way of firing a guy after he won you the cup. |

Imo if you’re trading for ROR, I’m involving Simmonds in anyway possible instead of Jake. If Buffalo is trying to compete and they need leadership players, Simmonds could be very appealing. But Simmonds obviously would need to be extended in any deal with Buffalo. I really don’t know ROR’s true value given all the ridiculous offers / asks over the last couple of weeks. Would Simmonds + #19 or our 2nd for ROR with some retention be overpaying or underpaying?

I really think its the contract that hurts ROR's value.
Buffalo would be morons to not consider salary retention to get the most for him. Imagine if he was paid 5 million/season. |
