Out of curiosity I read through the Buffalo thread on trading O’Reilly...there are a lot of delusional posts regarding O’Reilly’s value. Yikes.

Realistically Montreal should be all over ROR.
- flyer_nutter

Yeah they probably are but I can’t see them putting the 3rd overall pick into the deal and I’m not sure what else other than Pacioretty they’d be offering.

20 goal is 20 goals. Also still a solid contributor on the PK.
- J35Bacher

Nik Zherdev and Kris Versteeg, pro-rated for a full season, were 20-goal scorers for the Flyers.

Just sayin. And I agree, not a fan of Nash,

You over estimate Bergevin.

I would think, especially with ROR, off the books, that the deal would be contingent on Simmonds agreeing to an extension. Pegula has deep pockets and desperately wants to win. I could see Buffalo putting a 5 year extension and 35 million on the table for Simmonds. The deal would probably be front loaded as much as possible to allow them to deal Simmonds before the end of the contract as well.

for arguments sake say he resigns for 6mm per. ROR at 7.5 imo is a better bargain. Yes their are other factors no doubt. Still think buffalo wants a much younger player, like the flyers do.

it is very realistic for ROR to continue to be a 2 way 55-60 point guy for the next 5 years. Who knows with wayne.

Just think ROR is being undervalued big time.

I took me awhile to figure out who ROR was..
Im thinking it has to be some A level borderline superstar but its not, its O'Reilly.

Didn't say he would. Said he can.
- J35Bacher

The what is the point? Have to look at the fit and why you would be acquiring him.

Perhaps, but he only scored a whopping 9 goals at ES last year. Simmonds, playing through injury, scored 12. I think you may overvaluing ROR a bit and undervaluing how rival GMs likely view Simmonds.

There is also still a very strong mentality in the NHL that you keep negative stuff in the room and you never say the kind of things ROR did at the end of the season. OTOH, team first warriors like Simmer are beloved by most GMs.

Again, I don’t think Buffalo makes the deal I suggested, but I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility either.

Buffalo don't want Simmonds. He's an extra piece for a contender, and they are the worst team in the league.

I'm not even going to bother back reading. Buffalo wanting Simmonds? Good god.

MTL would probably give up Drouin + a 2nd for Simmonds at this point.

Just saying he provides versatility if needed. In two years if frost or Vorobryev are ready he can slide to wing if needed. Just like Giroux did.

I don't think I'll watch the Saturday coverage on NHLN because it's been terrible the past few years. They don't even talk about the picks as they are made, they just focus on whatever storylines they're running into the ground.
