If Eller and Shaw get you 2 2 dn round picks then ROR should get you 2 2nd round picks and +++.
Scherbak was one of the guy I did mention in a trade. Don't know how much Buffalo would want him. Maybe in a package, but still.
Losing Mete or Juulsen would be a disaster. Most likely Poehling as well.
Even with ROR, is this a playoffs team? Mete is most likely a top 4 defenseman on this team.... - deadpoulet
The delta between RoR and Statsny is not that large, especially given neither will transform this club into a cup contender.
I'd rather blow cap space than give away players/prospects by trying to get Stastny. |

At least this is a 50/50 toss up. With anyone else, MB get robbed. |

Not sure how many more comments about what side Juulsen plays or if we should trade for RoR (and what the package should be) or if Kotkaniemi, Zadina, or Tkachuk should be selected.
Lets all just bask in the inevitable (frank)-upery MB will create in the next 32-34 hours. |

How about this...
Pacioretty, De La Rose, Lindgren + 38th overall for Bennett & Valimaki?
What would you think of that trade at the draft? |

Patches won't be traded until JT signs a contract (wherever that might be), IMO. |

Drouin ROR Zadina (assuming Pacioretty + picks are dealt)
Domi Danault Gally
Byron DLR Lehkonen
Hudon Shaw Deslauriers
Is this a playoffs team? I think it is. Exit in 1st round, though. - Good On Paper
Not terrible, but no finishers. That's the problem with Pacioretty for ROR. Clear upgrade at center but we re challenged for offense even with Pacioretty.
Come to think of it, I don't think Pacioretty can possibly be traded with Galchenyuk gone. |

That is very possible indeed but I believe Bergevin already knows what his odds are of landing Tavares... For the sake of conversation let's say he doesn't come to Montreal, would you make that deal if you're Bergevin? |

Cause they still have Mccarron of course, obviously Bergevin is dealing from a position of strength with all those big centers around!! |

If I am Calgary, I probably don't, for the simple fact that they have a lot of $$ tied up in D and Valamaki would be cheap player with decent upside to slide into the top 6. And given there is talk of trading one of their top 4, I doubt they also want to get rid of Valamaki.
And no, I would not make that trade, from a Habs perspective. Bennet is not enough of an upgrade and the Habs might be able to get a comparative D with their second round picks.
That being said, I am still 90% sure MB does not trade Patches under any circumstances. |

Bergevin knows he has no chance to sign JT, Leafs have prepared a promotional video that shows the billion he will make in sponsorship once he signs a 1 year deal with the Leafs, Habs can't compete with that. |

Very well... The hope is obviously that Bennett becomes more than what he's shown, he's only 22 and could still become a decent 2nd line C and would be hitting his prime at around the time the Habs should be competitive again, or so we hope... As far as grabbing someone like Valimaki in the second round, it's possible for sure but he's almost ready to play now and could be paired up with Weber now as oppose to a guy who may get there in 2 years, not that there's anything wrong with that... But the best point you made is that Calgary would most likely be moving a big ticket D out to make room for the much cheaper Valimaki |

All I can say is that if Matthew Tkachuk isn't the only one that believes his brother is a future No. 1 centre, things just got a lot more interesting.

That is a brother trying to get his brother drafted as high as possible.
Tkachuk seems ok, but also seems like the one in the top 5-6 has the potential to be just meh. |
