Well you must not be familiar with Sbroads & 365’s idea of what they’d take back for ROR
365 specifically has said he “doesn’t believe we can get a core piece back for O’Reilly”
Just the other day, Sbroads said he’d take pick 11 & a decent roster player
How does that help us this year?
It doesn’t - jdfitz77
Why do we need immediate help THIS year?
We wont win the cup THIS year.
We have 8 more years of Eichel, Dahlin, Rerinhart, Mitts
We should be planning to be great in a couple years.
THIS year is to get pieces and set up for a long time with a young core |

Chatter around Awards week on Rangers has club exploring deals on Zuccarello, and teams been calling on Skjei
There's a new name on the chatter block. - JVince11
I thought Skjei would be an untouchable for them
LH defenseman...
but him + 9 i would do for O’Reilly |

The last time someone broke the FO record?
Brind'Amour, 2006, cup winner - jcragcrumple
but then it was broken in 2018...
team finished 31st.
where is the correlation?

This does not ring true with your "95% of faceoffs mean nothing" comment though. |

Underwhelming, but I don't believe you're offering fair interpretation.
Not a core piece could be a complimentary piece. Of course, he could be wrong. It could very well be a core.
Pick 11 in this draft is still a very good pick and a decent roster player could also be a complimentary player.
I don't read "spare parts" anywhere on there. Spare parts are AHL and 4th line throwins, imo |

they are right though, 95% of them really don't matter...however, there are several during a game that matter...and then they matter pretty significantly.
We won't miss it, until it is important those 5 times per game. - IonSabres
Then you get a guy like Paul Gaustad that can take faceoffs.
Every team has their faceoff guy. Eichel will be ours in 1-2 years. |

2 year, 1 way contract. Has 3 games left of waiver eligibility. Virtually no chance of demotion.

I think I am just against trading core players for picks. I'm sick of "in two years when he gets to Buffalo we'll be good"....
I'm done with that.... I really am... we need guys who can play not guys who we HOPE will be able to play. That's how we get Grigorenko, Armia, Kassian, etc. |

I was originally replying to the question of “how we’d improve this year without trading a core player?”
I agree with planning to Contend for the Cup in the future
But at pick 11, (if that was the main piece we get for ROR), that guy could just end up as Girgs or Grigo
It’s not nearly enough of a return imo
And like i said,
the additional decent roster player- those guys can be picked up UFA
And “b” prospects are usually more of a miss than a hit as well
Trade O’Reilly... fine
It just has to bring back AT LEAST a guy who we are pretty confident will be a “core piece”
I’VE SAID THIS ABOUT 50 GODDAMN TIMES |

Wasington, Vegas, Tampa
3 of the 4 finalists all were 50% FO or less.
Two of those teams were in the bottom 5 of the league. |

I think a reasonable trade could be:
O'Reilly, McCabe and the SJ 2019 1st rd pick
for
Pachs, #3 OA
With #3 OA I take Tkachuk, not Zadina

1) Better than Falk, Fedun or Tennyson already = upgrade
2) Upgrade from Larsson or Josefson = upgrade
3) Ullmark should help for some games and I expect Lehner to be better if back or an upgrade to be signed
4) Pilut, Dahlin, Guhle...it isn't just one player.
5) Mittelstadt, Dahlin and a full year of Guhle is something. We still don't know what other trades will be made, any UFA signings or how guys like Malone, Olofsson or Asplund will do
6) Too early
Some are unproven theories and others are fact. We will get better incrementally this year, the question is how much... - RhinoFan

Wrong - jdfitz77
I don't know how many times I am going to have to post this.
Tampa Bay was 27th in faceoff wins.
Colorado was 31st
Vegas was 22nd
Capitals 13th
Buffalo was 7th
Carolina was 1st
There are certain scenarios where winning a FO is important.
Over the course of the season, winning faceoffs and driving possession do not correlate in the slightest. |

Wrong - jdfitz77
There's no statistical proof that shows, over the course of a season, that the amount of FOs you win determines the amount of games you win. |
