This is gonna make me sound like a douche but the credit really in my mind goes to Bill for his blog on Farabee. I think everyone got pumped after that read. Some knew about Farabee but I would say the entire board got on board after Bill's blog.

Only 162 pounds... he might be roadkill.
- Feanor

Pretty similar in size and build to Simon Gagne when he was drafted, and bigger than Giroux was on draft day.

He can fly, works his tail off and is highly skilled and smart. He’ll probably play at 180 by the time he’s in the NHL. I wouldn’t worry at all about his size.

to take that a step further its the Mike Richards trade that keeps on giving.
- moylander

seven degrees of the Mike Richards trade

(hope a Simmonds trade doesn't extend this, though)

We can trade Frost and Farabee for FOUR first round picks when they're both 25!

I'm not sure now. Both undersized lefty wingers. It'd be interesting. I imagine they might go for more of a mixture like a D or bigger W. But we'll see. He's clearly BPA.

I don't look past Kaut or Miller or Sandin either.

- Mononoke

Stock the forward pile baby. Stock it. We already got the D looking good. Even the goalie.

Frost, Farabee, Berggren along with Allison and Ratcliffe as the big fellas. Give it to me

I think many would say they respect Bill's opinion, but at least speaking for myself I try my best to make my own opinions

JOEL FARABEE (LW) - #11
USA U18 (USHL)
76 points / 62 games
6’0”, 162 lbs

Saying Farabee understands how to hockey is both the most accurate and lamest thing I could say. But I said it anyway. The most noticeable things about Farabee are that he thinks the game at such a high-end level all over the ice and he works his ass off relentlessly, though he's not a traditional pest.

Farabee is a legit 6 foot, but he needs a lot more weight gain as he’s a bit of a stick, though having two older 6’3 200lb brothers is perhaps comforting that growth opportunity exists, with certainly the ability to fill out. Despite it, he wins far more battles than he should at his size. Whenever he goes after a loose puck or has a guy draped on him, he always finds a way to come out with 50-50 pucks or slither through contact. It's an uncanny skill. But he's not just motoring out there; he's got soft hands and good vision and reads plays brilliantly fast with a constant poise. Farabee knows how to create and manipulate space on/off puck, in tight spaces or open spaces, with the best of ‘em. And he knows how to finish too, with a quality shot. The US team even deployed him as their PP net front, though I’m not sure that’s his ideal spot. But his hockey sense and will to impact games is as strong as you’ll find. And he’s counted on at all strengths.

It’s more his skating than anything else that is holding him back from his ceiling skills-wise. The skating is a little wobbly looking without great top end speed. It's fine, no need to exaggerate it as close to a negative. But for his size, you sometimes wish there was a little more oomph in his stride, though he’s got quick shifty feet in tight and some burst. But there’s reasonable confidence in projecting growth there. He's got a lot of muscle to gain yet, his mechanics are mostly fine — a little clean up work and power skating and physical development might correct any issues. And if he does improve it watch out because it's the only hang-up and could open up even greater potential.

Don't take Lundestrom, please. Especially with Farabee as a better 2-way player. Lundestrom is way too safe at 19. I really would trade down I think.
- Mononoke

That’s what I’m thinking. Man, I’d love to swap 19 and 50 to the Rags for 26 and 28 or 19 to DET for 30 and 33.

I’m sorry. “roadkill” is just a joke from HFB which is down tonight so I can’t make it there.

I’m not worried about his size.
