It was 30 years ago that Chicago took Roenick 8th overall...and he hasn’t shut up since.

As far as a 2-way center goes, O'Brien excites me a lot more than Lundestrom. He has more puck skill and dynamic offense. O'Brien can absolutely play RW too. Certainly gives Frost the option to slide too.

The people who think Hextall only wants safe, 2-way guys can give it a rest for a while.

Pushed back to where?

Your all mighty never changing depth chart. Do you expect Couturier to play ahead of Patrick heading into retirement after one wonderful season, as we wait for Patrick to become the franchise player we expect him to be?

Maybe let Patrick crack 40 or 50 points before he displaces a 75 point 1C . And you had O’Brien ahead of him, too.

Still kinda dumbfounded by the Dallas pick. I didn't see one mock with that kid going in the 1st. Why not move down?

He was a riser, not a shower. Mostly end of 1st round, but Dallas reached earlier.

Reaches are all a matter of perception. A draft like this confirms that the mock guys may not have the finger on the pulse of NHL GM's as much as we think.

Frost was projected as a reach by countless assailants. Until he played a bit for Soo this year.

Apparently he’s dating Hoffman’s fiancee’s little sister.

I mean........Far Bear and JOB are both pretty safe, 2-way guys who just need to bulk up. They just are the good kind with upside and a lot of talent too. So, both camps are sort of right. They do tilt that way, but they could've gone with even safer players. I mean you have Dellandrea going at 13 and both were far above him to me. Or Lundestrom at 23. Those are the players I'd have preferred to avoid with that "safe" label.
