I just can't see Jake traded. Imo, Hexy would have traded him before extending him and I think that would have been the time. He's an Elite RW signed for term and there's nothing we can get or currently have in the farm system that can replace what Jake brings. Simmonds I can absolutely see traded because it doesn't financially make sense to resign him (Imo). Voracek can align perfectly for when Hart is ready as well. He's been relatively healthy and hasn't shown signs of slowing down. I don't count the 16-17 season because practically our whole team had a down year or had lingering injuries. - arichardson22
I can't see Simmer being traded because of what he brings to the Flyers in Leadership n and off the ice. His community involvment and really having that quality that makes fans love him...I see him signing for probably 3-4 years and getting maybe 6-7M a year and it not hurting the cap one bit. Everyt team looks for a guy like Simmer in their locker room and you don't trade that away...Carter, Richards, Schenn...all good players, but they didn't do for the city or for hockey what Simmer does...you don't trade that...you embrace it and keep it i nthe family, even if they value diminishes at the end of a longer contract...Simmer doesn't hurt this team if he is one it, regardless of what year of the contract he is in.
He has lots of trade value, but you don't replace all he brings to the Flyers in a trade...I think he is in the the Flyers front office one day...or at a minimum, heavily involved in the organization running part of the development program.

Selecting Noel would seem to contradict nearly everything Hextall looks for in a prospect. |

I am more worried about term than cap hit with Simmonds. If they can get him on a 4 year deal or less I don't really care what his cap hit is. I say this because I know he is not going to get 7 or 8 or 9 aav. And I doubt it would be above 6.

I was going to say I want no parts of a 7M cap hit for him. Love the guy, not that much. |

The Sporting News has Ty Smith dropping to 14 and Philly picking him. There isn't much chance he drops this low is there, but if he does that is the pick is it not? |

I am feeling Carter/Richards all over tonight.
Simmonds in one deal. Voracek in another.
Flyers get youngish NHL vets in the deals plus picks. Time frame for the team aligns perfectly for when Hart is ready to be the franchise goalie. - J35Bacher
Hmmmmm. It’s interesting. That is going to be a hard, hard sell to the fan base |

I honestly think this makes the most sense and what the Flyers should do.
However, under some misguided principle of doing things the right way, staying competitive at all times, empty headed nonsense I don’t think they will. |

Don’t think it has to be. Undersized dmen are all the rave and I’m not sure if Hexy is fully on board with stocking the system full of them. |

We can add another Senator to the list. #Sens are working with agent Justin Duberman to try and find a potential new home for G Craig Anderson. Nothing imminent. He has two years left at $4.75M and, oddly, has been statistically excellent every other season for last number of yrs

Also why isn't anyone being a smartass and asking Bill "dO yOu wORk iN teH NhL?!" when he says teams at the top of the draft aren't the market for Simmonds. At all.
I dunno man I'm just asking questions. |
