Man Pierre stumped hard for O’Brien. I rewatched the pick he called him his guy. - Just5
He was oozing all over him. |

I still love the Farabee pick. As for O'Brien I am not as confident as WhiskeyMan. I do agree the Flyers scouts must really see something great, not good, in him. That's not a pick you make as a project.
That makes what..5 prospects now currently in the college ranks? Obviously Hakstol must have a part in that. I am a little worried about the competition O'Brien has seen so far. - Glak18
I wonder if they pick O'Brien there if they didn't also have the 14th pick and picked Farabee. Maybe?
I like the pick fwiw. I like risk/reward profile for O'Brien, as a player. Testimonials about him are glowing. |

Insofar as trade rumors go, which team seems like the one most likely to be "drunk and desperate at the bar at 2am"?
Montreal or Ottawa? - johndewar
I hated Ottawa's draft. Obviously they drafted Tkachuk for his intangibles, but I see him as a 20-25 goal scorer and maxing out as a 55-60 point producer. Still think Zadina would of served them better. And Bernard-Docker....yup. |

Can't wait for the first time Zadina lights em up, LOL
Wasn't a big fan of the Rags draft either, which pleases me greatly. I like Kravtsov, but no way I take him before Dobson or Wahlstrom and giving up a mid round 2nd to move up 4 spots from 26 to 22 was just asinine, IMO.

I know literally nothing about any of these players but watching the draft, I liked the vibe that Zandina gave off. Seemed like he has that killer instinct. Love what he told Montreal allegedly.

Weird. I was watching the Canadian feed and they didn't have a lot of positive stuff to say about O'Brien. Can't seem to find video of the US feed yet. - hereticpride
10 Canadian kids taken in the 1st round and 12 kids taken from the CHL.
That seems kind of low by normal NHL draft standards, so our friends to the North might have been taken off guard on who they needed to talk about.
The US feed even had a highlight package on Jay O'Brien that they showed along with a Thayer Academy alumni graphic. |

None of the major sports drafts are intrinsically entertaining.
And honestly, compared to the other leagues, I like how the NHL kept it moving. |

I wonder if that pick was made with the thought of some trade in mind?
Because Tkachuk is going to be a nice player, but I think Zadina will be an all-star. |

I find it funny that the Flyers never say anything when it’s their turn to make their pick. They don’t thank the host town. They don’t mention their fans at home. They don’t congratulate anyone, they don’t bring cute kids up to the stage. They just make the pick. |

You'll probably see some stuff today.
Montreal and Ottawa reek of desperation to make a trade, so teams are probably just probing to see how they can game them. |

I actually love it.
I assumed when Hextall did it, it's because Hextall seems like one of those hyper competitive, no nonsense dudes that would take a lost game of air hockey personally.
When Chris Pryor (the guy who announced the O'Brien pick) did it, I knew it was an organizational choice. Loved it. |

Agreed. Just like MJL said below you...Zadina was mad and that passion could really show soon. I'd rather have that kind of commitment than doing the cliche "drafted our next captain". If Brady is lucky, he becomes Landeskog, but I think that could be a stretch. Then again Brady would of been a good pick...if Ottawa drafted their "MacKinnon" next year...whoops. |

Two kids that have a chance to be top 6 forwards....apparently great character and skill to go along with strong work ethic...solid first round. - landros 2
love this quote about Farabee - "He's high energy, high compete, high skill. It's tough to find a guy that works harder than Joel Farabee who has his kind of talent" |

I am not saying this happens...but
I don't see Tkachuk playing for Ottawa next year, at least a year at BU. If Ottawa looks like a bigger mess dealing with EK65 and Duchense...does he pull a Wheeler? He has enough time to do so. |

I like it, though with the draft being in Dallas, I just wish he had said:
With the 13th pick, Philadelphia, the home of the Superbowl champion Eagles, is proud to select from the U.S. Developmental Team, Joel Farabee
The cascade of boos and catcalls would have sent waves of pleasure coursing though my body.

Hope the Flyers can work something out with Simmonds. With all these young kids coming in they need a leader like him. I feel like he’s the only guy they’ve got with skill and charisma who isn’t a doofus. Voracek and Giroux work hard and are great players, but they seem a little goofy off the ice. |

They should have let former kicker and master troll David Akers make the pick. |

I feel like Clarke did it and Homer didn't? I could be misremembering.
Regardless, I really like how Hextall and Pryor did it last night. All business. |
