NHL Network is baffled that we walked away from Lehner. They are idiots.
Mad Dog Chris Russo talking to a so called "hockey expert":
Russo: So whats the deal with Eichel? Is he officially a bust?
Expert: No he's not a bust
Russo: Well its his 4th season and McDavid has already won in the playoffs
Expert: Well its not exactly Eichel's fault, there have been injuries.
Russo: And who is the 1st overall pick going to be this year?
Expert: Rasmus Dahlin
Russo: He any good?
Expert: Ya he's pretty good
Russo: 1 or 2 years in the minors or straight to the NHL?
Expert: He'll probably spend one or two years in the minors. He's a "Scott Neidermeyer" type of player.

I’m not happy that I had to watch that poop show for as long as I did. I’m happy that I can now watch decent goaltending going forward. - TheHank
We currently have no guy on our team that has a full season in the NHL under his belt. Don't get too excited.
I like Ullmark, but I don't think he's ready for full time duties (and from what someone posted earlier, JBotts doesn't want to do that with him quite yet).
He also was a MESS during the AHL playoffs. Not sure if he was still not right coming off the concussion he suffered here, but his numbers were straight up abysmal.

VERY intrigued (and scared) to see who Botts is going to bring in.

If whoever we end up with in goal this year can stay centered and square to the play and can anticipate a pass then it will be a massive improvement.
Trades and salary retention
Prior to the reintroduction of the cap, it was fairly common (especially for wealthier teams) to include cash as part of a trade and/or retain some or most of a player's salary when trading him to another team. This was usually done when the club needed roster space for (an)other player(s) and could afford the extra costs. Under the terms of the 2005 collective bargaining agreement, when a team traded for another player, it assumed the full cap hit and remaining salary obligations of the acquired player. Including cash in a trade was also forbidden. That was partially changed for the 2013 collective bargaining agreement. Including cash in trades is still prohibited, but teams may retain part of a traded player's salary to ease the cap burden on the acquiring team. Provisions on such retention are as follows:
1. The acquiring team must assume at least 50 percent of the remaining salary and cap charge of the SPC.
2. Such a contract can only be traded twice using provision 1 during the lifetime of the SPC.
3. Retained salary by the trading team cannot be more than 15 percent of the upper salary cap limit.
4. A maximum of 3 such contracts with salary retained in a trade can be on a team's books at any one time.
This provision is included in Article 11 of Summary of Terms the 2013 Collective Bargaining Agreement Memorandum of Understanding. - HonkFortheGoose[13]

how would you know that is going to be the case, because we are going to have to hope to find someone to plug in and he might be worst. As the old saying goes "be careful what you wish for"
