Playing on one of the most dominant lines in the CHL certainly helped those relative GF numbers but still impressive. |

Also if they weren't impressed with his numbers at the U18's it's because that was the role he was given on that team. Defensive shutdown role and pk. He did it we'll and didn't complain one bit. |

Asking because I don’t know too much about him but does anyone think Smith is NHL ready enough to make the team for this upcoming season or does he need some time still to develop? |

First off could not believe we had our choice of Veleno or Smith. Smith is a great get, never saw that coming. He still needs to develop some, but I think we got a winner here. |

That wilde kid as a first sounded like it night be a bad pick but what about in the second ? Worth a gamble ? Obviously we would have to move back into the second... |

Yes. There are some really solid forwards left, too, though. |

That is good news! Hopefully we can add a pick or two today and if not hopefully we acquire another nhl player via trade. |

This is exciting. A couple of the higher picks I never even saw those names, so I guess thats how this guy dropped.
Also there has to be something wrong with Veleno, if he was as good as I thought not sure how he got so low.
But this is awesome. He is NHL ready? Or at least Devils ready? |

Read somewhere he had more Points Per Game than Provorov in his draft year |

I saw the same article. It said Provorov had 73 points in 79 games, but he really had 61 points in 60 games? They also compared his numbers to Doughty and had numbers that didn’t match what I looked up on Doughty. Weird article. |

I think it included the playoff points each had their respective draft year as well. |

If he turns into Shayne Gostisbehere I'll be happy. Similar in size. |

I saw them say that. Numbers still didn’t work for Provorov? Don’t matter, I think everyone can be happy with this pick at #17.
Now if we don’t make any moves today I’m hoping Xavier Bouchard is there when we pick in the 4th round. |

I gotta be honest, as long as he turns into a legit top 4 NHL Dman is be happy. He and Butcher on the left side and Vatanen/Severson on the right side and we might one day have a legit defense. |

Pretty much, unless someone all of the sudden loses their minds and decides they need Ben Lovejoy. |
