Remember when some people thought that goalie that we didn’t qualify was better than Ryan Miller?

Going by who he drafted yes all Swedes we drafted them all and signed Free agents I’m going to get Irritated if he continues not to draft CHL players I don’t care about the year thing - gerbe75pts
It actually smart to not draft CHL players in the later round for this exact reason
But you know keep being irrational |

Why did no one pick him in the last half of the first round, or 8 other teams after the Sabres in the 2nd round - mattmoulson
Why didn't GM take kucherov or DeBrincat or Aho or Point ? GMs and Scouts dissect these prospects and stick to one thing and they still don't understand that they're human sometimes
I can't wait to hear why teams passed on Akil Thomas oh he's to small ? Give me a freaking break do these guys have to prove every general manager wrong every year
After DeBrincat you would think they be smarter |

Great it's smart but to me you're completely ignoring a higher calling in a player I'm fine with drafting the European players but to completely ignore the CHL when half the players that have won Stanley Cups are from there is ridiculous |

He stated pretty clearly that was mainly for late round picks as you get two additional years of evaluation. That seems to be his strategy.
I'm sure if there is a player that is rated high enough in the early rounds from the CHL he'll take them. |

JT landing in Toronto is going to be cap hell for them.
Maybe we can capitalize.
Maybe the 6th round favor was for future considerations |

No no I do I just think bode wilde Will be better and a higher calling if he fixes his penalty issue he will be a number 1 D
we just went safe he will be a Brooks orpik that will be successful for many years to come
Which is not bad but yet again I never wanted the D
I’m just irritated if the reason was CHL And that’s why he passed on him that’s going to piss me off - gerbe75pts
Whoa, wouldn't that mean he's leaving hockey altogether?
Glad we didn't draft the budding Presbyterian minister.

I get the strategy but he's done this two straight drafts I'm not trying to be that guy but Canadian hockey players are a huge part to a Stanley Cup win
You cant just completely ignore the CHL when half the players from the NHL are from there |

Like you said, if it becomes a habit I'll worry. But so far, it looks like he's gotten some decent value in two drafts. |

If you want to give him 7m for 6 or 7 years it’s gonna cost 2 firsts a 2nd and a 3rd. If he would sign it for 5 yrs or less I could handle it being only 1 1st a 2nd and 3rd.
I would probably pass either way though. |

The Sabres have to show that they're contenders before people want to go there. That's why drafting and developing is so important. |

I'm likely in the minority but now is not the time to be spending assets for a player that is going to need to be signed to an expensive, long term deal unless the player is a no brainer.
In other words: yes to Panarin, no to Skinner & Pacioretty. |

and he has a point - Michael Pachla
"A case in point for the extended development period can be seen in 2014 seventh round pick (181st,) Victor Olofsson. The smaller 5'11" 172 lb. winger took three years to find his game amongst pros before breaking out last season and winning the Borje Salming Trophy for most goals (27) in the league. The Sabres signed him to his entry-level deal in April.
Center Sean Malone is another example. The West Seneca, NY native was taken in the sixth round (159th) of the 2013 draft and spent four seasons at Harvard. He signed with the club last year, had a real strong rookie campaign in Rochester to the point where he is being looked at as a possibility for Buffalo's opening night roster this coming season."

I would easily give our 1,2,3rd for nylander
Your going to get a first for ror next year and the sharks first
You can move down with the first and get a first and 2nd
Depending on how high the first is
