No, no, a hundred times no. The best thing to do is not make the trade. Columbus is not Ottawa/dumpster fire or Edmonton/forest fire. Until Breadman comes out and says he wants to leave, CBJ management has enough time to find a number both sides can live with.

Please note, I understand that Paul doesn't want to trade him either, but even discussing this is crazy at the moment.

Yeah but do you really want to go into this season knowing your star player wants out (i mean he will play the season but after, well that's up in the air), not saying the lockeroom will become toxic but it is not a distraction management nor the players/coach will need.

What I find unfortunate about this situation is that this sort of marks the franchise as being an undesirable destination for FA's even if they have found some winning ways. The upside, well with Panarin off the books this opens the door for unexplored avenues in the future.

Yeah I am Alex, because I think at this point this is a move by Breadman and his people to see what Tavaras signs for to set the market. I would have no problem signing him to an 8 year, $9 million per contract. I would have no problem negotiating into the regular season if necessary because I think Columbus will find a way to pay him and the city is a great place to live and play in.

I agree with your second paragraph totally, but I am convinced he will re-sign, especially if they get more offense in here (Paul Stazny anyone!) and get serious about winning the Cup. the young players are old enough, the veteran core is healthy and in their prime, now is the time to go for it!
