@Fan960Nault
Some news from our pal @reporterchris today on @Sportsnet960.
Cam Ward to CHI on 1-year deal, ~$2.5M. Carter Hutton to BUF, details unknown. Jonathan Bernier to DET on a 3-year deal.
Sounds like Paul Statsny is going to remain in WPG but they do need to move a bit of money out. |

Does Montreal even have a top end prospect, besides the kid they just drafted? - Powerslave
no, but they have a guy that wears #67 |

Would love to have him, but only at the right term. Pay the guy $10 million if he wants, as long as it's only for one year. |

Prediction : ROR isn't traded and plays well for us the entire season. I don't care what all the "reports" say, I don't care about "where's there's smoke, there's fire" ... I'm saying he staying put.
BOOM. |

Dreger was just on the NHL Network and reiterated that the ask for ROR is a 1st, 2nd, and a top-end prospect.
If the Sabres make that bonus payment, that ask will go up. MTL will have no problem paying that though.
He also said that JT doesn't want this poop to drag on... so he should be signed by Sunday.
Also, if JT doesn't sign with the NYI by Saturday at midnight, he can only get a max 7 year deal from them.
No state tax in FL is also a huge plus in negotiating for the TBL, btw. - BareMetal
also said trading ror is 50/50 |

Honestly if we pay the bonus, unless we are blown away like a 1st and Thomas I rather just keep him this year. His value will pretty much stay the same next offseason. Year older but 1 less year off big contract |

might be a stupid question
what prevents the leafs from signing JT to a 1 year 12 million dollar contract
and then he signs a 7 year extension the next day?

I think if he signs with the leafs, this is what pushes them over the edge as winners.
I have it probably 80% he goes to leafs, and 10% each for the sharks and isles.
As much as I hate the leafs it could give us opportunity to poach some talent from them.
Maybe Matthews hates Babcock and wants to party with eichel and score 40 with him like the all star game. (And just like my nhl lineup) |

The wrath of the league office. They'd consider it circumvention, and we've seen how they penalize that.

Lol if its the Sabres they crack down...but with the Leafs....they'd prolly just demand some canadian tire money as a bribe. |

No overpayment, keep O’Reilly.
Trade bustlander, Sanjose 1st and a prospect with potential like Cliff Pu and bailey for Skinner. (I don’t see why not, that’s our asking for O’Reilly who’s more valuable. A 1st, top prospect and another piece)
skinner/jack/okposo
Sheary/O’Reilly/ Reinhart
Wilson/mitts/pommer
girgs/Rodriguez/Baptiste
Dahlin/Risto
Scandella/bogo
McCabe/Nelson
Better goalie.
That’s a fringe playoff team. If it’s not we have a bigger problem with jack not being who we thought he was. |

All the bonus is, is cash up front instead of whole year. Does not make a difference to cap if we want to keep him. Tpegs has plenty of cash up front. |

Actually, he will make the exact same amount of money in Dallas as he would Tampa after taxes as well according to this: https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/tavares-calculator

If the Blues aren't willing to fork up Parayko or Thomas then there's no trade to be had. I'd much rather keep ROR then get back anything less. |
