I’ve also seen the name Riley Nash thrown around. My one fear, and maybe someone who knows a bit more about him can shed some light - but where the hell was this guy before this season?
He’s not young and is this a one year wonder kind of deal? - flyer_nutter
He got some time on the B's top line when their top 2 centers were out and that padded his numbers. I think someone is going to sign and overpay him and end up regretting it.

Stastny basically became a net front guy for the Jets. Down low kind of player.
It was Ehlers and Laine carrying the play imho. He played well in the playoffs but I’m a little weary. 2 year deal? Sure. Blow the cap space. - flyer_nutter
Nothing wrong with a down low player. That's the most dangerous area of the ice. In 17 playoff games, Stastny scored 15 points. 10 of them at EV. He had the 6th most average ice time at ES in the playoffs among Winnipeg forwards. He's a solid player. |

I'd be pretty surprised if anyone is giving Stastny, who is clearly on the downside of his career, 5 years and 30 million. Best I can see, is maybe someone offers either 4 years at 25 or 5 at 27.5. This is why I'd try to reel him in with a huge one year offer. I originally thought 8 million, but I'd even go to 9.5 million since they have ample room. I'd sell it to him and his agent as it would give him the opportunity to sign another under 35 contract after the season.
Even if he just plays 70 games and puts up 40-45 points in 18-19, he'd still likely be able to get at least 3 years and 15 million, or 4 years and 17.5 from someone. Add that to the 9.5 the Flyers could pay him in 18-19, and he's looking at 24.5 million for 4 years or 27 for 5. - BiggE
This is the NHL and he's a center that can score. Teams can get in a bidding war over players and that can elevate deals. I think both Stastny and his agent are going to be looking for a multi-year deal but you never know. If he doesn't find a deal or a place he wants to play over others, he could accept something like you propose. |

Can also look at that as a player who is capable of moving up and playing well in case of injury. The lack of history is concerning but I like the player. |

I like him too, but I'd be very wary about locking him up long term and for too much cash.

Over Gudas?
I’m not sure Hex will allow Sanheim and Myers to both start on opening day. Would be nice. - flyer_nutter
There will be 7 defensemen on the team. No doubt there are concerns about who actually plays |

I don’t think Stastny will sign here even though I’d like to see it. Winnipeg still seems like the most likely destination. |

I used to be on this boat, but given Hart's record-setting CHL numbers and Sandstrom's injuries, I'm not too sure. |

As long as one of the two hits I'm happy.
Sandstrom last year at Dev camp reminded me of Hank in his positioning during the three net positioning drill that there is video of him Hart and Tomek doing this year somewhere. |

Hak is going to have a corn husking contest to determine the top 6. Have to earn your spot. |

Haven't read the article, but I would guess it can be summed up as follows:
"It's cold. Like, it's REALLY REALLY cold. All of the time. And there are wolves all over the place. And you car will never start the first 20 times you try. It's a desolate tundra wasteland. And it's really (frank)ing cold all day every day."
Edit: "And on the days when the yetis stalk into town, you have to cower in doors until they've consumed enough man flesh to be satisfied." |

He is right, re: the entertainment aspect of things.
Hockey culture can be pretty stultifying and parochial. |
