Gotcha
I just posted the difference
Obviously doesn’t count an increase in endorsements that he’d have gotten in Toronto though - jdfitz77
he would have made 4 mil per year in endorsements in toronto, easily

he took 2 mil less to stay in tampa where there is no state tax
vs signing with leafs or sabres - homiedclown
It wasn’t 2mil less though in takehome though
U gotta account for taxes
If the leafs were only offering 10.5mil,
then he made more per year after taxes staying on Tampa
11.5mil in Toronto & 8.5mil in Tampa are basically equal |

Good article on The Athletic on ways around this that actual negates much of the Tax Advantage of Florida and other no income tax states. - IonSabres
Do u think The Athletic is worth it?
I don’t subscribe |

how are you figuring this?
I am truly interested...
I believe it is pretty complicted since in the US now (unless chnaged recently) players are taxed on where they play...so Florida's benefit is on a ltille more than half the games based on 42 home games and 2 or 3 games in Sunrise playing against Panthers. Then Canadian games are taxed by Canada.
If this still holds, it pretty long calculation to arrive at the actual tax benefits |

TSN has a “Tavares Calculator”
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/tavares-calculator
I’m not sure how in depth their calculations go |

Yes, worth it but I also was offered a 50% deal for the year. But the writers are top notch, no reason to really visit BSN now except for local news. |

so far I do like it, but only been a week...They had a special 50% off offer a bit ago (that "special offer" probably applies to everyone 10 times a day, lol)
It has some good articles...yes, and you can customize the feed so you aren't blasted with 3,000 articles of useless importance.
I joined primarily to get content from Vogle and Baker, since I dumped BEN subscription...and to get other articles of interest to me down here in Sarasota (Lightning and Bucs).

TSN and cap friendly have a simple calculator, based on national, state, and city taxes. You're right though, players also have to pay taxes in the city/state/country they play away games, which is complicated to calculate.

They gotta move salary out this year to make it work
Then some next year to sign Kucherov
Hedman is their only defenseman signed long term, so they’ll have to figure that out too
They’ll be crazy tough to beat though |

It’s probably in the ballpark though
Just gives u an idea of how 8.5mil in Tampa is roughly the same as 11.5mil in Toronto |

I haven’t read the Bflo news in forever
It’s just noise
Anything worth reading from there is usually posted on here
So I’ll peep an article here & there
But even the stuff posted here from the BfloNews isn’t ever mind blowing |
