"On keeping young prospects like center Robert Thomas and goaltender Ville Husso:

“Moving forward with this young group is something we want…We want to be highly competitive today, but we want to protect our future. We’ve talked internally and we could improve our team drastically within really 12 hours if we wanted to move three or four of these pieces that we have an excitement about.

“The price of doing business in the trade market was three of these pieces for one player, or two pieces and a high draft pick and we just didn’t feel that that’s the best long-term approach for the St. Louis Blues organization.”

Looks like it's over, log out of hockeybuzz and turn off the computer for the summer. Our price is high and GM's play mind games. I wouldn't read into this too much. If anything it's a good thing botterill doesn't just trade for the sake of trading. He seems like a shrewd GM and I love it.

I didn't call him a star, I called him the best available, which he is.

And Okposo was the best winger available.

The FA thing is utter nonsense, and has been for over 5 years

Just curious. Have any of you considered that Connor Sheary might just be the forward version of Nathan Beaulieu? You guys thought he was gonna be a great young addition and it turned out he was terrible at hockey.
Sheary pricetag was low so wether he works out or not it’s still basically found money. Now to see if he’s a $20 or 10cents.

Plenty of Sabres fans thought he was a quality puck moving defender. Not criticizing the trade, he was diiiirt cheap. Zero risk. As is Connor...but there is a difference between cheap junk and a bargain.

Sheary was a salary dump, Beaulieu was a change of scenery guy. Both good risks to take for the cost. I don't think Sheary has the same level of risk, given what he's accomplished in the NHL so far.

No we didn’t
Beaulieu was benched in the playoffs by MTL
We HOPED that Housley could work with him & he COULD be good
But no one had high expectations of him or Antipin

Also,
No one has high expectations of Sheary
We think he’s a forward that can play on Eichel’s wing & score 20 goals
