Habs are rebuilding, not because they want to...because they have no other choice |

Must be why they signed Plekanec and still have Weber, Price and Patches |

I agree. It feels like they are on option E/F/G now and will finally admit it once Weber and/or Price are traded and pretend that was the initial plan right from the beginning. |

That's why I'm saying they are not fully committed to it.
...but nobody would take Price's contract anyway. They are stuck with it. |

fred i don't think signing a 36 year old 6-goal center is a sign of "going for it"
if they trade Pacioretty in a move for young bodies, i think that's a great sign.
Price is likely unmovable but Weber has some value still. and honestly if they trade Pacioretty and then Weber, it won't really matter how good or bad Price plays. |

right now he's unmovable. but if he has a great year and they agree to eat $2 million of annual salary maybe things change. |

I'm counting on a panicked GM at the deadline going into the playoffs without a goalie |

I can't see any team in the running with that kind of cap room available at that time of the year. Better counting on a career ending injury, LOLZ! |

He just eats up ice time that should be put in the developpement of a younger player. And you know Julien loves him and by November he's on the first wave of the powerplay |

Weber on the Leafs makes too much sense. just not sure they can afford him. |

That's exactly what I told one of my friends who likes Plekanec. He texted me that at that salary I should like him...I told him it depends...if I see him in the top 6 and on the powerplay you won't hear they end of it. |

If one of Nylander/Marner comes the other way, it's basically a wash considering the contract they'll likely get sooner than later. |

For what it's worth, considering Tavares didn't want to come play here.
I think Bergevin did pretty good so far this offseason. By not signing any stupid contract and getting some decent addition for cheap.... he did good.
The Pacioretty trade will obviously have a major impact on wheter or not I maintain this evaluation. |
