Yea looks like they opted for the wait and just sign him approach instead of the always popular trade your franchise player so you can sign him a week early method! It was a tough call, could of went either way - obie

Probably gonna flip Mason... Bergevin should of got Roslovic instead of the picks! And what's his deal with trading for RFA? |

Which is alright by me...
Maybe Mason gets flip to the Islanders, no point in buying him out, you can get a pick or 2 for sure for him |

Mason is a salary dump. Nobody wants him. Habs would have to trade some picks to give him away. |

He's a salary dump to Winnipeg but with only a year left, I guess there are a few G in free agency this year! |

It's a win-win, Jets get to resign Stastny so the Habs can't! |

Are you serious??? A top prospect which is also a center for a 1 year salary dump? Come on...
That’s a good deal for both sides as it gives the Jets the cap space to resign Stastny (double win for Habs). |

They don’t need Roslovic, Poehling will be pretty much that. They need a young established center but more than everything, a true puck moving D and a legitimate #2. Oh and surround your kids with good vets, a rebuild with only young players is a recipe for failure. |

Even with Kotkaniemi and Poehling they are still weak at C, neither are a sure shot by any means need to build true depth at the position... And they need a guy like Roslovic far more than another 10-15 goal winger like Armia
I agree about the D, they need to add a couple top end young D, there's a nice secondary core already in place, just lack the high end skill |

I have visited HockeyBuzz for years and this is the first comment I’ve ever made. I’m not sure what credentials you have but you seem to know absolutely nothing about hockey. You want the habs to sign fringe players and aging players on the decline to deals that are 4-5 years so they are handicapped when they will need space down the road. Signing these three players won’t even make them an above average team. They need to build through young talent not UFAs that are below average players on big term. After all the good Habs bloggers that HockeyBuzz has had your articles are really embarrassing for the site. - Pants99
Thanks for your input. If you have followed me for a while you would know I've said at every turn I'm simply a fan sharing my thoughts. I try to provide an opinion on topics and HockeyBuzz gave me that opportunity.
If you feel my writing is embarrassing I recommend you find a different site then, I would hate to disappoint you any more.
Have a good one fella! |

It is a no lose trade... only costs money.
If Armia shows something, great. Mason or Niemi gets flipped for some picks.
Habs are not in the game next year, might as well pick up some decent assets and see what they can do. Good move, rather than blowing cap pace on 6-7 year contracts by signing mediocre players.... which could still happen tomorrow *sigh* |
