I’m thrilled. A) LW depth improves B) JVR scored ALOT with a smaller role last year. C) Shows Hexy will sign the bigger fish (finally).

yup, this is way better than going 6M over 7 years.

I agree, I don't love it or hate it. It's gonna be good for the first 3 years, but probably not gonna be fun when he's 32 and 33 years old during the last 2 years.

I won't pretend it couldn't be ugly, but they swore up and down on multiple broadcasts last season that he's a fitness fanatic now

His biggest weakness is defense -- and I won't pretend there won't be nights when he pisses people off with it. He coasts too much on defense. I won't sugarcoat it. He's still not gonna hit people in anger, either

But if we try to wait for the perfect player, that player's not there in free agency. And if you want to try to get a better player than JVR who is under contract, then you are straight-up giving up the kind of assets that make you flinch

You calmed my panic sweet cheeks. Much appreciated.

Man, I watched the Leafs a TON last year

Babcock used him perfectly, didn't pretend he was Patrice Bergeron, and just let him score and do his thing -- and while he will drop off at some point in the contract, those hands aren't going anywhere.

It's gonna always be about willpower with JVR as he starts to slow down -- is he gonna fight to get to the net, or no? You have to tell yourself that he will and move on with trying to win something

Love the deal and term if true. This should have a very nice trickle down effect for our third line.

Smart move by the Flyers to grab JVR. He had 36 goals last year (T-13th). Has some of the best hands in the league and is just 29 yrs old.

Also a guy that is meticulous about his body and training.

See, that's what I was saying -- they said this all season last year. He's just one of those guys who isn't going to rah-rah, isn't going to block a shot with his face

Just a professional goal scorer

I guess the reason I am excited is that I'm freaking sick of the narrative that you absolutely have to be this 200-foot-player who is kinda OK at a few things but doesn't have the hands to finish

Yeah, I want players to try on defense. We all do.

But FFS. I like Michael Raffl. I do. He is a good hockey player who tries and plays good defense and has heart.

But we have gone as far as Michael Raffl is gonna take us.

Sometimes, you need Patrick Kane and Phil Kessel and now, Alexander Ovechkin -- sometimes, you need guys who if it's on their stick, it's under the freaking bar

You do realize that trolling me when I watched the guy play probably 20-25 times last year is pointless, right?

Kane is much better and like the other Kane I’d rather have that one instead
