To change things up a bit I'll change to topic to Enstrom.
He has quietly gone un-noticed in the free agent frenzy. No word or rumors about any interest out there. Any guesses as to if he will get signed anywhere, if so then where, how long, and how much ?
I'll begin by saying IMO he WILL get signed for a one year term by a team taking a gamble, $1.75 MM. I'll hazard an educated guess at Ottawa who seem to be in some desperate need for some defensive bodies. - jetsnation
He was listed at #8 on the SN unsigned board before DeHaan signed. I’m upset Chevy didn’t snag DeHaan, to be honest. My original point is that his name is out there. |

Actually, I've already changed my mind on this. I say he goes back to Sweden with his family and retires. He may get an offer or two but quite frankly at $1.5-$1.75 MM on a one-year term (which is all a guy who plays 13-15 minutes a game for 43 total games will command), its just not worth uprooting his family , buying a new house, etc. He'll call it a day. He's made enough money.
Edit: I also recall he married some Swedish reporter. I imagine she would want to go back as well. Just strenghtens my theory even more. Yeah he's done. - jetsnation
I say he ends up in Vegas

I think your edit is the most likley scenario. I can't see him playing in NA for anything more than a one year deal, but most likely not at all. Toby had a good career. I still marvel at being selected 239 in the 8th rd and having the career and contracts that he did. Truly amazing. |

I would go for a beer, most of you sound old and opininated, like me, so we should get along ok!
We will make Rexy the rookie buy extra rounds for being such a pain in the a$$! |

There’s chatter of a potential Gardiner for Myers deal. As much as I’d love that, I doubt Dubas would ever be that dumb. |

Not a trade to get excited about but it is a good fit for both teams. As a bonus Jets free up another 1.4m cap for a deadline acquisition next spring. |

I saw that, I dislike both players. I still think we could talk someone into giving us something of better long term value if we traded Myers plus one of Lemieux or Petan. |

This would absolutely mean Niku plays moose this year though? You ok with that? |

I will bring this back up closer to the end of August, early September as it may be easier to schedule then and perfect timing for upcoming season.
PETE, you in? |

You make a point. Can we just dump Myers, and make Niku-Poolman the 3rd pairing? |

This is a great idea! Perhaps we could turn it into a hockey draft! |

In. This could be a perfect test for the old school sensibilities vs the stat nerd predictions. Bragging rights to be had. |

I've watched Gardiner for years. He has a ton of talent and you can bank on him for offence. You can also count on him to make some of the most egregious errors in his own end that you have ever seen.
That deal for Myers would be fair I'd say. |

Jets that filed for arbitration:
Trouba: Good in that Jets can choose a two-year term and Trouba's stats and injuries might support a good result for the Jets if Trouba's demands are too high and it gets to arbitration. Bad in that they still have not reached a deal and Trouba won't be a happy Jet if he gets less pay and term than he wants for another two years. Toss up . At least no team gave him an offer sheet.
Helle: Same as Trouba in Jets can choose a two-year term. Bad ,in that Helle in arbitration will likely get a lot more than whatever the Jets are offering after his stellar record-breaking season. Sign him now !
Lowry : Might be best that this goes to arbitration because of injuries and relatively poor stats might be in Jets favour. Furthermore Jets can choose two years at which point we might not be able to protect him from Seattle. Let an arbitrator decide.
Tanev : Will get more than Jets are offering in arbitration without a doubt. His stats and play in regular season and playoffs are very good. He was approx a point every third game while playing on third and fourth lines plus heavy PK duty and team leader in hits. I'm sure Chevy offered him a two-year qualifying offer. Jets should sign him before July 31st if they were smart
Dano: Its a mystery as to why he elected to go this route unless he sees it as his route to freedom from the Jets. He is obviously not worth more than the mandatory 10% bump Chevy offered him on a 1-year two-way deal. I mean 3 points in 27 games. Only Matthias was worse. He will lose any arbitration case and maybe even have to pay the Jets back some money ( kidding). If he were to somehow win arbitration then he is gone. Chevy won't pay. End result is he ends up on the Moose or another team. |

I don’t see the jets going to the two year route with any of them, why would they? The player could just play out the two years and become a UFA. I’m hopeful none of them actually make it to arbitration but if they do, Jets will choose one year to maintain more control. |

Further to this, the player would have more trade value as a pending RFA, cause any team acquiring the player would have more leverage in trying to sign the player long term. Teams would pay less if the player was set to become a UFA. |

Its a good point.... although I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference regarding Lowry and Tanev with Seattle looming in two years. Mind you, we can only lose one player to Seattle. Dano's QO would only been a one-year two -way so who cares. Trouba will almost surely get signed long-term. Two sides must still be $500k or so apart or this might have got done by now. If not signed , then I prefer a two-year deal because Jets will never be able to afford his demands anyways, and save on cap in case he has a big year in 2018-19. No way Helle ever gets to arbitration.
I'm not claiming in any way my logic is perfect. Just brainstorming the permutations.
