I really don't think cap space is a problem this year. Don't we still have 15+million or so even after Tavares?

We can overspend on Neal and still have money left over.

13.7M cap space to sign Willie and 4 other spots...

The @MapleLeafs have signed forwards Adam Cracknell and Josh Jooris as well as defencemen Martin Marincin and Jordan Subban. #TMLtalk

Liljegren might be gone in a trade.

Yeah, I'm curious too.

The last few days I've actually been binge watching this great video from earlier this year. The one with the Arkels song, knocking at the door?

Love the hype up vids.

Here's another one with the Arkells song:

The one Nic Cage made is a beauty too.

My original suggestion was to offer Neal one year at 10 mil.

He would be gone before he was ever a problem.

- Leafs43

To what play on the 3rd line? Babs ain't moving Hyman, and Marleau is on line 2. Don't need Neal.

$13.7mil. Most of that will go to Nylander.
- BetterCallSaul

I admittedly forgot Nylander needs a new contract.

That will eat up a good chunk.

I don't think Toronto has to make any trades, but they can now. Nylander can net every decent return. Trouba? Pesce? Parayko?

He probably stays though.

Got it.

Im really not that passionate about this idea. Just threw it out there. Just seems silly to not use up all cap space and go for it this year.

I hope they don't trade him.

but I don't think any team would really be looking to add any of:

Borgman, Rosen, Holl, Marincin, Nielsen.
+ Subban and Cracknell.

that's already 7 AHL d-men.
Ozhaghinov I suppose 7th D-man on Leafs.

so I read the 2 AHL d-men signings as a hint of Toronto potentially trading a young D-man away.

Liljegren + Kapanen / Johnson + Pickard / Sparks + a nice pick.. that could be an interesting package for some teams rebuilding.

EDIT:

If you're Ottawa, would you take Liljegren + Kapanen + Sparks + 1st for Karlsson?

Almost have to..

i think its much more likely that someone like borgman gets traded for peanuts or opts for mutual contract termination so he can play in the shl or k

i see where youre coming from though

Bear in mind though AHL only allowed to play so many vets per game too. Think it is like 3?! So while we might sign 4-5 of those vet guys they won't always be in either.

I do think we will see a trade and for a defenceman though here before the season begins.

maybe.
although Borgman in my opinion is the only D out of those seven (so not counting Liljegren) with real NHL potential. Even Holl is a bit of a stretch.
Borgman could be a good 3rd line D man for Leafs, I like him.
