My biggest concern now that Tavares signed with the Leafs is whether I should be annoyingly cocky towards other fanbases or annoyingly humble and passive aggressive.

Wait to see how the team does on the ice first.
Then go from there.

That hurts the forwards.
He can do it without moving nylander or marner.

I thought Polak was one of our more effective playoff d-man the last 2 years...

Just concerned we have little to no edge on the back end, which is needed once you hit the playoffs... regular season, not so much... but come playoff time???

No, but I have so much trust in the Shanaplan I feel that will be addressed.

Joe is great, not arguing that.
But hes super slow and i dont see him signing for under 2m.
Joe is also slow..

Still need D

- Fakepartofme

We still have tons of cap space this year; we could back up the truck on a 1-year deal.

Super slow, but still super effective; plus he'd be playing like 9-10 minutes a game.

Leafs are looking at Rick Nash on a 1 year deal.
If Nash decides to play one extra season, Toronto would be on top of his list next to Columbus.
1 year on a contract below 5million.

Good fit on that Kadri line with Brown.

Low risk deal for Toronto - if it works out, Nash gets a final chance to win a Stanley Cup.
If it doesn't work out, they'll just LTIR him and at the end of the season he'll retire anyways.

I like where your head's at.

Might I suggest a two-pronged approach? On Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Sunday, annoyingly cocky; on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday humble/passive-aggressive.

Keep them off balanced and second-guessing.

i think leafs can get a good rh d-man without giving up Nylander, just Gardiner (+)
e.g. spurgeon.

Agreed. People say trade Nylander for a young, top pairing D...but are never specific. Who? Unless you were trading for a true upcoming star DMan, Nylander is going to be the best player in that kind of deal. I think they can improve the D a lot internally and with some prudent additions rather than a big splash kind of deal.

We already saw the Pens and freaking Vegas win and/or be contenders without a big, star D (Pens won without Letang). Trading Nylander is such a Chia on XBox idea.
