Youre exactly right. Leaf fans are mocking Isles fans for being bitter when in reality if it happened to them theyd be reacting the same way. He led the Isles on making them believe that he wanted to be there and then he handcuffed them to the point where he just walked away without them retaining any assets in return. Incredibly selfish thing to do after that organization drafted you, gave you an opportunity and you spit in their face. He straight up snaked them. DeHaan is a guy who’s playing very heavy defensive minutes, against 2nd pairing competition, and sees his underlying stats range between 1st and 2nd pairing levels. He’s not an offensive player, but gets the puck out of the zone.

Only drawbacks are the recent injury and the fact that he’s a lefty and Babcock might be weird about that. Oh and UFAs can be overpaid. 4-5M is where he should cap out.

He’s a borderline top pairing/very good second pairing guy who would need a better player to support him if he was taking top minutes. Stylistically a good match for Rielly.
