So we traded ROR and a basically 4th for
Sheary
Hunwick
Thompson
Sobotka
Berglund
1st
2nd
Yeah, Botts sucks. |
|
|
|
I think it would be a good move to dump one of Berglund or Sobotka for more picks as it would free a spot on the roster for another of the young guys (olofson, nylander, baptiste or Smith) This trade basically confirms that we wont make the playoffs again so why not give some nhl time to younger players. Right now my lineup would look like this
Sheary-Eichel-Reinhart
Olofson/Nylander-Mitts-Okposo
Wilson-Berglund/Sobotka-Girgs
Smith-Erod-Baptiste
Pominville
Scandella-Risto
Dalhin-Nelson
McCabe-Bogo
Hunwick |

Dude we got a Bunch of 30-year-old players for cap dumps and bottom 6 players oh how awesome
Got first and 2nd - awesome
Couldn’t land any of the top three prospects - win
Ended up with a prospect that is terrible and skating needs a lot of help and now we’re making him a center
And we have no future stud prospects at winger who most of us thought that’s what was going to happen
No winger for Jack are Casey
Win - gerbe75pts
You are a prefect candidate for fake news |

Kane, Lehner, O'reilly... Gone. The locker room is changing. We have a new #1 goalie. The barn is getting stacked. We have 3 picks in next year's first round. It's a good day. - sskkoo1
Putting it that way is a little more comforting. |

Good summary
That 1st is even years away from helping us,
if at all
If Thompson was a better prospect or young player, I’d be happy
But right now he just projects to be a decent guy for us - jdfitz77
Pretty quick to throw a label on him, but Thompson might be our #4 prospect, behind Dahlin, Mittelstadt, and Guhle.

Welcome to our special little group of bumholes.
I don't think either player is worth more than a decent pick, but Berglund is a great short term option to protect CM in the dzone and on the PK. He can also score 20 and brings some leadership and winning attitude/experience that won't fight with Jack.

Kind of thinking same.
Sounds like Thompson is their Nylander. Could be ok but a guy willing to add to any trade to incentive it. Nothing special.
A late 2019 1st we won’t see for years.
2021(!) 2nd. Won’t be in NHL until like 2024/25
And two cap dumps. Some may argue no, but if these two guys were FAs today and botts signed them to their currant contracts we would be pissed hes wasting cap money. Could of got similar players today on FA cheaper or less term.
A C grade only because it seemed O’Reilly needed to go. - Fattony1187
Id have rather had 1 “core” guy back for O’Reilly instead of 5 “parts”
If Thompson & the 1st become legit players for us at some point,
then good trade
Right now...
i feel like we got Evander Kane like returns for a guy we didn’t have to move
Oh well
Let’s go Buffalo!
I guess |

I will miss ROR. I liked watching him play. We all know that the core under achieved this year, and somebody had to pay the PRICE. I really, really hope the locker room stuff was true, because this return doesn't make any sense to me otherwise. It seems like every talented hockey player's career in Buffalo ends with him getting run out of town.
Maybe he deserved it.
It ended like Nolan/Hasek, Lafontaine as president, Miller, Vanek. A lot of poop talking, a fair amount of innuendo, and the team receiving lesser players in place of a better player. I hope to God this fixes the locker room, if it needed fixing. |

So he wanted bellows but he was ok taking the 5th best prospect from the blues ugh
He had all the power I would have walked away and waited for a team to Cave |

I agree
I think they are both similar players and would keep on of them for the defensive matchups to let Mitts have some easier matchups. However, if Plekanec got a 2nd + prospect last deadline I think Berglund might be able to fetch that. |
