I don't think anyone actually cares. Based upon the information spilled onto twatter, the price was already high, and it was going to be higher once we paid the bonus. Based on what Botts wanted all along (1st, 2nd, prospect), he was already making it hard for teams to pay that price. Center-needy teams are typically bad, so giving up a 1st is not quite easy. It was Buffalo's worst kept secret that ROR needed to GTFO. So, here we are.

I understand his position on players from the CHL having a smaller window to make a contract decision, but it does disturb me a little bit. It's one thing to prefer the college/European route for that reason. It's another thing to avoid the CHL altogether, which Botterill seems to be doing. The CHL is still the best developmental league out there. That should offset at least some of the concern.
