I understand his position on players from the CHL having a smaller window to make a contract decision, but it does disturb me a little bit. It's one thing to prefer the college/European route for that reason. It's another thing to avoid the CHL altogether, which Botterill seems to be doing. The CHL is still the best developmental league out there. That should offset at least some of the concern.

Ya know, he's addressed this numerous times. And it's completely understandable. You don't have enough time to evaluate a lot of the CHL guys. We released the bottom 3 picks we made from 2016. Here's a surprise, all 3 went undrafted in 2018. Bashing the guy for being more efficient with his picks is exactly the kind of dumb poop you would be taking part in.
