But did we? I don’t think we will know that answer till about 15 games in. There is nothing that says Hutton is better than robin

From what I posted last week about ROR it seemed like the best case for both parties was to move him, sounds like it won't happen now. Have to be strong down the middle and we are now.
- SABRES 89

But man do we need top 6 wingers. Moving him could bring one back.... maybe

Thanks for the info ! If they do decide to move him I’m sure it’s because the Isles and Sharks stepped up at the plate after missing out on JT.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of Lehner, but he was above average for most of his time here and Johnson was seen as a very strong backup. This year, it's a huge wildcard. It could be better or worse.

I am open to give him another shot

Said that many times

If you signed that guy the yotes got
Moved casey to wing

Changes everything

- homiedclown

I would have loved that. Would you have given him 3 years though? I feel like 2 is as far as I would go. You never know if you're gonna get the 6 goal Grabner or the 25 goal Grabner.

I was there last year, yes. I remember talking to him. Nice people there.

We do but then we are weak down the middle, can Casey be number 2 center ? that's the big question. I'm not a Grabner fan but if they could have grabbed him, it would have helped some.

For me it started when Botts refused to do any buyouts (Larsson, Beaulieu). Getting Hutton was very good but he didn't address other needs and players I felt he could have signed today went elsewhere. He was too cautious when he admitted at the end of last season changes will happen. Today was his opportunity.

There is still time for him to make those changes, we'll see.

- mhp

Fair enough.
It seems most of the displeasure centers around:
- no big change in the old core...primarily around ROR as he
I) has a perceived attitude problem
II) does fit the speed game
III) perceived to be over paid
IV) likely to get a very good return
- lack of acquiring a top end LW

Just some perspective-

The Leafs have made the playoffs last two years, have the best young core of forwards in the league arguably, and still go out and sign a star player.

You can’t help it if JT wasn’t interested in the Sabres, but you can’t sit back and watch teams you pretend to have rivalries with get better and better and think you’ve accomplished anything because lottery balls bounced your way.

Dahlin is a great start. But we thought Eichel was a great start too. You don’t make the necessary moves now, in three years we will be sitting here in the same spot with another GM and coach.

This team was DEAD LAST. Not just short of the playoffs. Dead. Freaking. Last.

Do something about it.

Casey as 2c is a huge question. But I think Erod is more than capable as the 3c. Obviously not as good as Casey would be at that spot though.

I was thinking somewhat of the same thing, we just keep wasting Jack

I mean, I don’t want to sound like I don’t think we will be better. We will be. The kids will help. But it’s a long way to climb from 31st.

No more moral victories like the year after we got Eichel, where 80 points was a success

That’s pretty damn good. But unless we improve our wings erod will be forced to play a position he is not as good at on a line higher than he should be on the depth chart.

When do we get Vanek?

Lmk when you’re ready to change your location...

“Fitz was right & i was wrong” works for me

U take this crap WAY too seriously man
Lighten up

- jdfitz77

Fitz is right and I was wrong
Vanek signed in Detroit.

How's that?

Is that not serious enough?

It would be huge if he actually pans out
- sbroads24

What is "pans out"? NHL regular?

Edit: No sarcasm intended. That's what I'd consider panning out for him. 4th line guy who can step up into a higher role when necessary and gets some PP time.

Not until we have a 2nd round or later player turn into a legit top 6/top 4 guy. We just don't have enough quality assets to trade right now.

I like jack in that matchup.
Toronto wins the other two, give mitts a couple seasons and he could flip that.

Aspland is our future Kadri

- gordong

I guess we win with the

Dahlin / ? Match up
