When Steve Mason started slow with the Jets (what else is new?) and then got hurt, he lost his job. It happens. Many around here made it sound like Hextall was a genius for letting him go. Whatever happened there doesn't mean it would happen here. Mason deserves a look.

It's like with Mrazek. He had an uneven season last season. Problem is, he isn't a superstar goalie. He's never played behind an awesome defense. Guys like Mason Mrazek have the capability. I don't think Elliot or Neuvirth are light years more talented than Mason and Mrazek.

All of this seems true, but unlike Elliot, Mase viewed the job as HIS, and made that point well known. Elliott has always been a team first, i’ll do whatever is asked of me kind of guy. Attitudes whether perceived or real make a huge difference. Mase by both his own doing, or unfortunate circumstances, has himself in this predicament. No one wants to sign him as a starter, for starter money, and he doesn’t want to be a 1b or backup....hence the reason he is unsigned......IMHO.

Yep! Tavares knew he was going to sign there all along. Kind of pisses me off, and I bleed orange and black! Why would a guy pay all those Canadian taxes and cost of living ( I know, I was just there for a week) plus US money is worth about 28% more, and he could have gotten a longer term contract for more money to stay on Long Island??? He knew it and hijacked the limelight as long as he could milk it. For that, he needs to be concussed! Being a Richard has its penalties!

- johndewar

Totally agree that he will not get starter money but i doubt that he is unwilling to negotiate for a 1b or backup job.Islanders need a 1b

People really don't know how Mason doesn't have a starting job right now?

On his way out of here he essentially said in a post game that he doesn't want to back anyone up, even when he's being outplayed by the other goalie. That's not being a team player.

Saw it, too. Thought the same thing.

It was a fun movie, but for me it was a bit long, kinda boring at the end.

So I listened to a podcast with Joe Rogan and Ted Nugent. The dude is out there, in a good way though (kinda). I am a liberal, but I actually enjoyed a lot of his talk with Rogan. He promotes a very healthy lifestyle.

I am a conservative. Nuge is surely out there. No drink, no drugs, but man does that guy need a filter sometimes.

Love Rogan’s podcast! boy did he catch some heat for having Nugent. Not sure why, was just having a conversation. People act like Rogan is this one side guy at times but in reality he interviews people from all over sharing all types of different beliefs. He’s always respectful towards all of his guests and genuinely has an ear for curiosity and learning. He did a recent one with David Goggins, highly recommend you listen. Guy is unbelievable

I also watched Ice Guardians. I thought it was meh.

I did laugh when Shultz raised his hand when he was asked who was the greatest enforcer of all time.

Yea, the dude is super high energy all the time, even at 70 years old (or close to it).

The guy sometimes needs a filter, but it was a fun interview for most of it.

Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion confirms that they have made an offer to Erik Karlsson but won't go into details about the specifics. #Sens

Goggins was sick, I loved it. I listen to him before I workout now, no joke.

Rogan has on a lot of different people on his podcast for sure, and he is very respectful, but he does lean to the right on a fair number social issues. I wouldn't call him a conservative, but he does have right leaning view points.

Where he is different is that he allows people to talk for themselves, and is respectful, even if he disagrees with their opinion. He's a very good interviewer.

He's not small, though. He was over 200 pounds at camp last year.

I thought Ice Guardians was an interesting watch. It was a nice look at a part of the game that is (rightfully) being phased out that many people in the game think should stay.

Ice Guardians can certainly serve as a good way to get a hockey fan through the summer months if you are unable to get down to "poop the Beach" or dev camp in Voorhees.

Mason is better than Petr Mrazek and Mrazek managed to score a job.

No idea why Mason is out on the street right now.

- johndewar

He had multiple concussions and only played 15 games.

Hopefully he's 100% healthy now and can have a good season somewhere.
