C’mon dude! - Clyde334
We’re gonna hate that deal in two years.
With that said, I’m really excited for this year. |

K Time to send a couple guys packing free up some cap space! Buy out Brouwer!
And Sign Lehner? - Yeah...Baby
They can't afford to buy out Brouwer anymore. They need to find a way to unload 100% of Brouwer's and Stone's salaries. Might need to move Frolik since teams might actually want him. |

good move. I was hoping his price and term would come down to snag him.
He wanted 6x6 and you got him 5years under 6. Now it will be inserted to see how Peters responds to having some goal scoring talent for once in his coaching career |

Man I remember when Edmonton fans used to say shìt like this when they got a shiny new toy.
Not sure any Flames fans really mind the Leafs getting Tavares. As long as the Sharks didn't I think we're all good, |

You're in good company.
Hey Bud (you must be a bud, right?) Quick! Without thinking - what's the first word that you thought of when you saw this picture?
That's right!
Which is what we think you are too. Cheers |

Good pickup! Neal can score some clutch goals. My favorite one was Game 1 vs the Ducks last year when he blasted the puck off of Corey Perry, into the net to end the game in overtime. |

With all the poopty deals been given out, this is decent. 20 goal scorer each of his 10 seasons. It's a year too long but whatever. This is bigger than JT to Toronto. Gives us so many options up front. I came. - Squilliam-
Almost every deal is 1 year too long. 500-1m too much. It's UFA. Solid signing for 3 years atleast. Nice get for the Flames. |

Pretty easy to understand why the Leafs have so many haters when you have clowns like this running around trying to make the biggest douchebags possible out of themselves.
Kinda sucks for the rest of the fans but I guess every team has got those poopty few bad apples that they wish they could garburate.

From a pure points standpoint, Flames have:
Hamilton - minus 44 points, 17 goals
Ferland - minus 41 points, 21 goals
Lindholm - add 44 points, 16 goals
Hanifin - add 32 points, 10 goals
Neal - add 44 points, 25 goals
Ryan - add 38 points, 15 goals
Czarnik - ??
Anderson (presumably) - ??
Stajan - minus 12 points (12?!?)
Much deeper team now that can reliably roll 3 lines at minimum

From Aaron Vickers Twitter:
(James) Neal on (Mike) Smith: “I’ve known Smitty for a long time. We’ve trained together for the last 10 years. ...He’s great. He can’t say enough about how good the guys are on the team and how good of a place it is to live. I’m excited.” |

So according to BT he's still looking to add depth on defense!
Hopefully the translation is, "I'm shipping Stone to Ottawa for a 3rd?
Sign Calvin De Haan
Definite upgrade in my mind and if Brodie is unable to return to his orignal form which I believe will not be a problem, you can reunite De Haan with his old partner Hamonic. |

I cannot see them adding on much more salary. Seems they need to shed some.
Think there are still teams looking for Dmen. De Haan is going to be expensive. |

Flames have roughly $12.5M to sign Lindholm, Hanifin, Jankowski, back up goalie, and at least one more 4th line forward (Hathaway) - that is not a lot to go around. Flames will be right up against the cap with these moves...unless they want to pay to let somebody play in Stockton (Brouwer) and that solves the cap problem, but the image is not great to other potential UFAs in years to come. If Ottawa moves Karlson/Ryan, they will likely be fighting to hit cap floor - Stone would be very likely trade candidate - take back a 7th - or pucks. Islanders may also be in need to add salary...Brouwer + for anything....then Flames would have $8M + in cap space. Bring up some young guns to get some ice time. I think BT has quietly made some serious improvements to the team, but I feel like he will make one or two more minor moves to ensure flexibility and growth potential. Last hole to fill is the back up goalie...Smith can only go 50-55 games max - do Flames stick with Rittich/Gillies???
Gaudreau/Monahan/Neal
Tkachuk/Jankowski/Lindholm
Bennett/Backlund/Frolik
Czarnik/Ryan/Hathaway
Giordano/Brodie
Hanifin/Hamonic
Kulak/Anderson

Not gonna lie, the Flames roster looks pretty solid after the moves. Especially if Smith has another solid season. Lack of depth has killed them in the past but the bottom 6 looks decent now. A long way from having guys like Freddie Hamilton
No excuses for Peters and the players this year. Gonna need Brodie and Hamonic to get their poop together though |

Maybe its time to move on from Frolik. Would like to see if Foo is ready for 3rd line minutes.
A 3rd line of Bennett-Janko-Foo could have potential. |

I would flip Janko with Backlund on those line combos.
Stone gets you more, probably at least a 3rd. How about Mason on a 1 year 1.0 mill deal. More proven than Riitch. |

That's the Beauty of what BT has accomplished in the last couple of weeks so many options!
My lines would be
JG, Money, Neal
Tk, Lindholm, Czarink
Bennett Backlund Foo
Jankowski Ryan Frolik |

It doesn't work like that. They'd only save 1 million if they buried Brouwer in the AHL.

If things go as well as I'm expecting, signing Neal could be a disaster for the Flames in the pretty near future. If they can't pay someone to take Stone and Brouwer, they better just go ahead and win the Cup this year.
I wonder if they still would have signed Ryan if they knew Neal was going to end up signing with them. |

How is 20+ goals per year going to be a disaster in the near future. The Neal signing is a disaster, real bad news for Brouwer because they just gave him Brouwers job.
Brouwer & Stone = 9.0 mill of cap space & whether people like it or not, even if you had to offer up a 2019 3rd & a 2020 2nd to move Brouwer, whatever. |
