I don't know why I am always curious to do this but I am...
I plugged in both of these recent Botts trades into NHL 18 and got the following responses.
4th rounder for Sheary & Hunwick
"I take my job very serious and I recommend that you take yours more serious with that offer"
3rd rounder for Sheary & Hunwick
"These players are viewed as pivotal for our future and are not willing to part with them for this offer"
2019 1st, 2021 2nd, Tage Thompson, Berglund & Sobotka for ROR
"We are not even close to common ground on coming to terms on this trade" - JVince11
If you do 4 first picks you can get McDavid[url] |

He is a good player
Not a great one
He isn't Bergeron
He plays a lot of minutes, but hasn't produced well 5 on 5. I am sure that will change a bit in St. Louis playing with Schwartz and Tarasenko.
He isn't a great skater. He does win battles in the corners.
Not a great shot but not a bad one either. He is a good hockey player that was overpaid here.
He could end up putting up 70 points in St. Louis but he needed to go - Stripes77
It will be interesting to see how they use him, that's for sure. Hearing that they may use him as a LW with Robert Thomas made me laugh pretty hard today. Have my doubts that they'd use him a 1C and on the 1st PP, but if they did, he'd obviously put up some numbers.

I think it makes us better in the future most certainly.
And this trade makes us better this coming year as well. RoR did not produce 5v5 whatsoever. the "cap dumps" we got back out produce him.
We weren't going to be good next year, RoR wasn't part of the long term plan (choose your reasons)
I doubt you could even turn last years team into a bubble team on Xbox in one off season - Shadman306
Love all this whole 5v5 stuff.
Last year, Sabers dead last in goals scored, dead last in 5v5 goals. But lets cherry pick whatever stat to make us feel better.

I wonder what forward on the Sabres played the most minutes, hmmmm? I'm sure it couldn't possibly be that guys fault at all |

Marc Bergevin said he was asked for three first-round picks for O’Reilly. Thought he was joking. Pretty sure he wasn’t. - Stripes77
That's amazing. You know why? Cause Montreal doesn't have jack poop to offer this team. That's why. |

RoR had the most minutes and we were last in a lot of categories including a sucking locker room |

5v5 scoring is not a cherry picked stat. The game is prominently played in 5v5.
The Sabres had the #1 PP two years ago and finished 24th. Because the 5v5 scoring was awful. |

ROR will be who he has always been, 50-60 point guy, 20-25 goals, PP points, 55-60% FO guy who eats minutes and does not take dumb penalties. 7.5 Mil is a big for what he brings to the table, but a very solid center....

Look, we're not sour grapes over losing ROR.
Most here can give you an objective, fair assessment.
-His 5v5 was bad. Very, very bad.
-His PP was very good.
-His defensive awareness is good.
-His faceoff ability was excellent.
-His speed is average at best
-Discipline is excellent
-His passing is good
-His leadership ability is questionable at best. Following a guy that always says he needs to be better and he lost passion for the game leaves a lot of question marks
-He's an overpaid 2C
That's Ryan. He's a good player, but he's paid too much for what he gives you. Enjoy the player. |

don't you EVER compare ROR to Drury... ROR is MILES away from the player Drury was. |

The fact is, ROR played a ton of minutes for this team and we couldn't score. And that was with him winning a ton of draws. He was a key contributing factor to last years deplorable team.
If I were a betting man, I would say that ROR will play "lights out" for you guys this upcoming season. We'll all be wringing our hands about what a huge mistake we made. However, 2-3 years down the line I think we'll be happy that we're not dealing with him anymore (both on and off the ice). |
