This is exactly the deal Botts wants. Futures, Present long term and short term assets.

This deal was done to not only round out the team, but to also bring in top end assets as well. I love the move, but some are less passionate about it.

Should be another 75 pages of this crap and then at least another full blog of it.

Growth year. Quality vets surrounding Mitts, Dahlin, and a few other prospects who will see time this year.

Its a good problem to have.

We seem to think that Botts isn't done...

3 1sts next year, 2 4ths, and an extra 2nd in this deal. Plus we have too many forwards AND dmen to put on the ice that also can't go to Rochester.

There was talk that we might package a 1st with a depth forward or dmen to get a 1LW like Patches or Skinner here.

Too early to tell but I really bet there are at least 2 players added to this team before opening night that aren't here now.

Real value seems like its in picks and Tage...Berglund is still a useful player. Just turned 30 so you shouldn't see a huge dip in his abilities for the length of the contract.

Not sure about Sobotka...feels like he can easily be flipped at the trade deadline if Sabres are out of playoff hunt.

Wasn't sure what Sabres current high demand needs were and if this helped.

Some people like the prospect, some don't. I've read a lot about him and have no reason to dislike a 20 year old late 1st round pick.
