all we heard last year from flyers fans was that schenn was nothing more than a powerplay specialist.
Clearly playing in a different system with better defense made a huge difference.
I see the same thing happening with ROR. My prediction is that the guy puts up between 60-70 points contributing through all aspects of the game. Does this mean he's anywhere close to a cornerstone piece for a team? No, but I think he's exactly what the Blues needed. |

I think it was a fair trade for each of us, you got a very nice complimentary piece even though hes making 7.5M. we got pieces for the future and some strong locker room presence.
What do you think of Thompson? |

You don't understand. He left when his contract expired. Then, he came back, signed for 3 years with the Blues. He's not going back to the KHL while under NHL contract. - TheSabresTaco
I mean he can, anybody can. There's no transfer agreement with the KHL. |

sobotka had 11g and you want him as our 2nd line center
Please no - gerbe75pts
No one ever said that.
Homie said "sobotka is an under rated center who is good on the dot and pk".
That is not "Sobotka should be 2C". |

He absolutely is. There's no doubt he's the best player, today. Enjoy him, but temper your expectations. |

From Ryan Wilson's blog:
"Ryan O’Reilly is a great player. The Blues did a nice job of acquiring him without giving up assets that really meant anything to them. Buffalo was in a bad spot with this because it is clear they weren’t making a hockey trade as much as getting a player out of their locker room. The rumblings I heard were that he was sick of "babysitting" Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. Rather than having locker room strife the Sabres made the decision to move on and get what they could."
Not sure the guy who ran his car into a Tim Hortons while drunk can claim to be babysitting anyone - Shadman306

He def has some potential. If we had to lose someone out of him, kostin, kyrou, or thomas there is no question I'd hope it was him. With that said he's got some slick hands and a very heavy shot. He got rushed into the lineup because of all the Blues' injuries last year and looked lost defensively and that seemed to hurt his confidence. |

Sobotka thinks hes a 2C. Which is why he went to the KHL. When Blues traded for him he was an excellent 3rd line guy and PK specialist. His contract negotiation didn't go great as he and team didn't see eye to eye. He also felt he "lost" his arbitration and thus left for KHL. Finally came back and now he working off that arbiter deal. Want to say was gone maybe 3 years or so. |

Sounds like his confidence has been bolstered by talking to Botteril after the trade.
Let's hope that continues through camp and into the season. |
