He and Tanner are neck and neck. Garth is too, but that's mostly inadvertent.

what honestly does this even mean
- BeadyEyedDouche

believe he meant water bug.

Like Ennis.

Like the type of players not well suited for the north south system housley wants.

The type of players that spend too much time going east west who aren't effective any longer

I honestly think you guys got an awesome retur. For ROR. I don't like the trade from St. Louis' POV since I think they are still pretty far away from being a contender. This kind of just delays their inevitable rebuild.

Per Paul Hamilton.

Thompson has said He's going to get top 6 opportunity with the Sabres.

Could treat it as a 9-10 game tryout.

- ImThatGuy

Thompson also said that he's more of a center/rw although he's played a little on his off-wing

Okposo could be pushed to 3RW

What do you think of Thompson?
- Shadman306

Thompson has a good shot, but needs to learn a much quicker release for it to matter. Great size, but doesn't know how to use it, and needs to add muscle to his big frame. Poor skating. Was still over his head trying to learn Blues defensive system 41 games in.

I'd put his floor as average third liner, ceiling as decent second liner. And most likely he ends up an above average third liner who can play in the top 6 if he has high end line mates.

It’s ok to say we lost .. I mean with our luck you will be in the top ten win the lottery and win the cup next year and we get the last pick in round one

Another year of sucking, buttttttt our long term potential has continuously risen with Botts as GM.

Mittelstadt looks to be a steal, Pilut was a solid signing, Sheary is a good acquisition, 3 1sts is a big deal and we have a lot of NHL prospects in the system. Dahlin was the gift.

Asplund, Pu, Baptiste, Malone, Oglevie, Pilut, Guhle, Thompson, Nylander, Smith, Borgen, Davidsson, Samuelsson and Olofsson all have varying degrees of NHL potential. Quite a few will bust but if bet we have at least four solid players out of that group.

We're setting up for expansion and the impending lockout. Good on management for not rushing things AGAIN.

Sobotka is only 2 years and can go next year at the deadline if serviceable, Berglund has value especially if you retain 1m. I like Tage. And again, we have lots of high picks again. We won't be good but we are definitely looking up.

And the thing is, we weren’t going to be either way.

Well, good is a relative term I guess.

My opinion is, either contend to win it all, or don’t bother. If they were going to keep O’Reilly to try and have an 80-85 point season and still miss...it’s a waste

This is exactly the deal Botts wants. Futures, Present long term and short term assets.

This deal was done to not only round out the team, but to also bring in top end assets as well. I love the move, but some are less passionate about it.

- TheSabresTaco

But we didn’t get any “top end” assets
That’s my biggest problem with the deal

Time to move out Baptiste, Bailey, and one of Girgensons/Larsson. We need a top line LW and we can be a much better hockey club next year. Eichel and Mittelstadt are your top 2 Centres for the next 10-15 years. Rejoice Sabres fans. I don’t think anyone understands how lucky we are yet.

The Calder winner was picked 15th overall

0% chance we got a top end asset.

This place is bonkers
