This is how the first rebuild should have went. Don't trade tons for a top guy that some team is willing to trade (there is a reason they are willing to trade them, and not a good reason). Just draft very well and build the players up the way they should and the team will be way better for it.

He took his ball and went home which was his right but the blues won arbitration and he had to honor that contract and DA only wanted to let him back if he agreed to a contract extension
