Yes when I have 2 elite wingers and no centers and missed on JT and best center is bozak and Braden
But I would call the gm and add more Crap so he wouldn’t take my best prospect |

Pretty even trade. Sometimes there are no winners or losers, just fixes for both teams. That being said, the full benefit of this trade from the Sabres standpoint won’t be felt for a few years.
One more thing - I do find it hard to believe be we couldn’t leverage the Isles desperation post Tavares exodus. If I were the GM I would have tried to exploit that. But who knows behind closed doors what really happened. Based on Botts conversations though it seems like he was pretty set on making a deal w the Blues, which I think leads me to believe he wasn’t working that side of things as much as he should.
Again just my two cents and am satisfied enough w the trade. |

The fact that Botterill was able to keep Lygma is a win in itself. |

Hold up, I missed this.
SO you would try not to trade Casey, and add in say a 2nd round pick, a verteran Center who can play 2/3 line minutes and a 1st round pick from two years ago who is nearly NHL ready. |

I agree that in a sense armstrong was in a tough place. He had to address the center position beyond the signing of Bozak for the team to have any chance of making a run this year |

Your logic Is not helping the situation
When I can guarantee you botts said I want this prospect And blues gm said I can add these 2 vets and a 1st and you can have this Prospect that was in the NHL
You can say Casey and this bullpoop but our gm couldn’t get the second or third prospect and those aren’t Casey level
So thanks |

that makes no sense because the teams are in completely different places and have different needs |

No I would just keep adding garbage and sweetening the deal so he stop asking about my top prospects
Which the blues did

He’s not getting it if my team was the blues and needed a center for my elite winger I’m going to trade my prospect for him
So we win a cup Just like the LA Kings did |

You think Botterill should have gotten Thomas/Kyrou and a 1st for ROR.
Which is the equivalent to Middlestadt and a first.
I wouldn't do Nylander and a 1st for ROR. let alone Nylandner, 1st, 2nd and a solid 2/3 center. |

What is really scary is Tage was the Blues' top prospect in Bott's mind. CHL sanctions. Yikes. |

This trade is a win for the Blues now.
It should be a win for the Sabres now and further more down the road.
This team has finished last 3 times in the last 5 years, big changes need to happen.
More should be coming down the road.
Bogo, Moulson, Okposo, ROR, Lehner, and Kane were all from the previous GM.
4 out of 6 are gone |

Let me guess.
Murray would have gotten
Thomas, Kyrou, and three firsts. |

He's gotta tread that line carefully. Too many losses at the KBC this year, and people will be chanting for his head like we did with Darcy - jcragcrumple
As long as the team plays better on Kid’s Days, everything should be fine. Taco tables will remain upright. |

No idea, but Botts is in the minority of thinking Tage was their best. Armstrong probably volunteered to pay the 7.5 before Botts read a prospect report. |
